From Rumors on ESPN. Looks like he would be a class of 11.Because all 27 of LSU's signees qualified, two of them were asked to greyshirt (i.e., delay their enrollment until January) so they could count toward the class of 2011. One of those two, three-star DT Elliot Porter of Louisiana, now could find his way to Tennessee, according to ESPN.com's Jamie Newberg.
It's not clear why Porter, who was expected to move to O-line for the Tigers, was one of the ones kicked to the curb, since his Scouts, Inc., grade of 79 put him on the verge of four stars and in the middle of LSU's group of signees. (Perhaps the coaches felt he would redshirt anyway because of the position change.)
Newberg says that new coach Derek Dooley is very familiar with Porter from his days at Louisiana Tech, and given the Vols' numbers deficiencies across the board (with DT being an area of particular need, assuming Dooley would not ask Porter to change positions), this could be a perfect fit.

I live close to and work in memphis. There are more UT fans than memphis fans here, especially when it comes to football. Lots of people are memphis basketball fans and UT football fans. So by FAR kids here consider UT home. Definetely way more than ole miss or arkansas or any other SEC teams that are closer.
NO 60 miles from BR, Memphis 365 miles from Knoxville...
Atlanta is more hometown to Vols than Memphis...
distance is why Tennessee has struggled so much in Memphis. There 7 other SEC schools closer to Memphis than Knoxville.

maybe i have just been gone too long from tennessee to remember but here in texas this isnt an issue. austin is in the middle yes but texas is huge. kids from all over the state (further away from austin than memphis is from knoxville) and they have no problem with that.
i guess its just a different world here
we have 5 guys (Brown, Porter, Loften, Dixon, Jackson) vying for 2 spots.
fwiw, it doesn't sound good on Brown and Dixon much at all. As the days pass, it looks worse and worse for Loften.
Why do you say it doesn't look good for Brown? I thought he was on campus and taking classes. In that case, wouldn't he just need to pass his classes and therefore he isn't yet eligible because those classes are not over yet?
