Possible Replacement For Serrano?

There is no way we are going to be equal to Vandy by the start of next season...no way.

Vandy isn't going to have their new thing done that quickly I don't think but even if they do the two are still comparable. Mainly Because Vandy doesn't own any kind of home field advantage due to poor attendance. 2k at their games isn't impressive and their stadium is the center piece of their facilities

Ranking facilities off the top of my head

1) lsu
2) USCe
3) Arkansas
4) miss state
5) ole miss
6) Texas A&M
7)Alabama
8-12
Vandy, tenn, florida, Georgia, auburn
13)Kentucky
14) mizzu

Okay.

The level of "don't get it" here is mind numbing...

You preach, Reverend Bruin, constantly about the financial advantages they have, right?

Then there Chancellor says, “First, we recruit elite high school baseball prospects who often are choosing between us and professional baseball,” he said

and they are building the facilities to prove it, not just for the current/future players but for current MLB players...

Imagine being 17 and getting that treatment...now...what do we offer?

Vandy isn't recruiting against us, they are recruiting against the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees.

and we beat them today.

and if you are a senior on this team, you are two out of four, 50%.

Little testy sir. Dang we won today

My only beef with $ is how it pertains to scholarships. I think if the scholarship structure was better for us and worse for Vandy we have plenty of $ within the areas of the rest of our program to win.

I don't think our $ commitment to our program is hurting us at all. It's the scholarship structures of our competitors that hurts us which improving ours isn't within the AD control

Look up recruiting, see how it's going. There is an indifference because in their view not enough people care...so they get away with doing nothing.

In the last 5 years what has the UTAD done to make life easier on the baseball coach? Look at Bianco's statement in my previous post.

I don't know the answer to your edit except to say, the AD sets the tone...if the AD is willing to flounder the fans are smart enough not to invest.

We have 5 CWS appearances in school history, 1 coach is responsible for 4 of them. Fans didn't show up in his tenure. UT averaged a CWS like every 4 years under Delmonico and couldn't fill a 3k seat stadium. That's not on the AD.

Biancos statement?

had 3136 today for a team that is 6 games below .500 in SEC play...

Just imagine if they tried.

Biancos statement?

“I’ve always tried to not be the guy that said, ‘Hey, we need this to recruit,’” Bianco said at the baseball team’s media day Tuesday afternoon. “We already have an outstanding stadium. Of course, we’ve always felt that Ole Miss and Oxford is easy to recruit to.

“But in fairness, our stadium, the outside is as nice as anyone’s. But inside the locker room, in our competitors and who we compete against in the Southeastern Conference, I think is in need of some upgrades. I think certainly when a recruit looks at our facility in the future, there’s no doubt when he walks out he’s going to say this is one of the best facilities in the country.”

Got to raise that $

Again it's just my opinion but the facilities are at the bottom of the list of our problems.
As for ole miss they are damn sure at the bottom of any issues they have

Tried what? We hired a coach with 2 CWS on his resume.

3100 is a decent crowd, meanwhile Arkansas had 6700 for a Wednesday night game

What can we offer a Tennessee recruit that is also being recruited by Vandy? How do we win that battle?

What is at the top of your list as far as problems...or is this a multi sport debate?

Upgrading facilities won't fix this.

Nothing is going to fix this unless the need based money is regulated and then we could offer a cheaper education which might win a few recruiting battles

That's fair.

You seem to be saying it doesn't matter who the coach is, we'd have a similar outcome, correct?

Just baseball

1)winning

2) in state recruiting(Vandy destroys any ability to get elite talent for cheap %)

3) out of state recruiting(no ways around out of state tuition which means high % has to be given)

4) pitcher development(no high drafts)

5) fan apathy

Very very possibly the case

But not making a change supports more of the AD doesn't care doesn't it?

Not deciding something last year is the problem. Not being able to see the forest for the trees is the problem.

THIS AD has done it twice now...let the fans decide. Grow a set Dave.

Not if he addresses the real problems. All a coaching change does is continue us on a failed path. In my opinion, it also has the risk of setting the program further back. I just don't believe Serrano became baseball stupid when he crossed the Mississippi River.

We did, but it wasn't this AD that made the hire. I think he is referring to Hart.

I am talking about that, sure...and it's significant in terms of who the baseball coach will be going forward but...

I'm also talking about how successful programs promote and support the sport. Here, you only have to look a few miles up the road to see the Smokies. I hear it 2 or 3 times a week on the radio. I've been to games, what they offer...

When I say "trying", this is what I mean.

Then you have to funnel it back in and we just don't do that, we aren't.

I love the team, love yawl...but the baseball program is hanging out to dry right now...and yes I did get the e-mail UT, thanks.

Win more than we lose. We've consistently had top 25 classes which should be good for middle of the pack at least, yet we're finishing 10-14 in the standings.

As you know...in the SEC we haven't won more than we've lost.

Best I can tell, Coach Serrano can offer USA baseball, but thus far, he can't offer regionals...thus far he can't tell a top draft pick he can make him a better pitcher and forgo the MLB draft to come to Knoxville...we can't out facility anyone even in our own state.

We beat Tim Corbin this weekend, 2 out of 3 games with all the advantages they have that folks discuss ad nauseum...with players Corbin didn't want....and yet...people will want to back up a brinks truck to Tim Corbin's house...well after Burke and Helton...
