Possible to get double bye still?

In order or preference clearly Ole Miss, then UK, then Mizzou. Playing in an empty gym close between ole miss and uk...uk will have several thousand fans and it's not an insignificant factor imo.

I see your point on crowd factor and I don't disagree. But I am not confident going up against Ole Miss in Neyland, Thompson-Boling, or any other place they want to play. Not being a NegaVol, Ole Miss has our number. Their post players collectively are better than ours and Henderson (while I hate him), is the type of player I do not want to go against in a tournament setting. We very well might beat them, but I would like to avoid them. I agree Mizzou is the one I really want to stay away from. Like I said earlier, either way you cut it, it's a tough road.

Brings up one of the more retarded sports cliches, right?

"Ya know...it's tough to beat a team 3x in one year"

fwiw as good as mizzou can be should they win saturday it would be by far the best road win (scar and state) of the yr f them...

Im still not sure we want the double bye. A loss to MO on sat and 2 wins in the T still get us to 20 wins. I think that's the number we need for an at large bid. Just looks far better to the committee than anything with a 19 -

thought you were.saying as much..maybe not

Nope. I was saying bubble teams will be seeded 2-6 with mizz in there as well.

Which means if it goes down thru Thursday with no upsets, the bubble teams would be playing each other Friday with one team playing mizz. IMO, the winners on Friday would leapfrog the losers for bubble spots.

Just for the sake of conversation, lets say we are 5, we'd play the 4. Say that's ole miss. Seeds 3 & 6 would play as well. That could be uk vs mizz. #2 Bama would play the 7, possibly Ark.

No matter how the seeding plays out, with these SEC bubble teams being so close, I think it's plausible that the teams that make it furthest would move up in the NCAA projections and into the tourney. With each game becoming so important, wins over other bubble teams would really help your case.

Some people think we need that extra game that a 5 or 6 seed would give us. I'm thinking that if you don't win on Friday, it won't matter. Also, I think a win on Friday would matter not just because we would be adding a decent win but also because we'd be giving another bubble team a loss. And the game on Thursday wouldn't mean anything at that point other than adding another meaningless win.

Point is that without a Friday win, I don't think we are dancing. I think a win Friday means we are. Playing the game on Thursday wouldn't help our resume and would mean we are playing against a fresh team friday while we are playing on 22 hour rest.

In all this I'm assuming that we win this Saturday. That is a must.

Definitely don't need to lose to Missouri

Many of the big analysts still saying if Tn beats MO we are in, Regardless of the SECT.

Yea, that cliche has been disproven before, many times. I agree about Mizzou. They have been terrible on the road but they have the makings of a great team. I am surprised they didn't perform better this year (not that they were bad obviously, just expected more). But I guess adjusting to a new conference and different gyms has something to do with that?

We will just have to see how it all plays out. Assuming we win Saturday, we will have an intense and tough Friday game. But I think if we win that game, whomever our opponent, we are a lock. Lose Saturday or lose that Friday game and I don't want to think about the potential consequences. I am not sold that if we beat Mizzou Saturday, we are in regardless.

Yep. But all of these projections don't account for those teams who pull an upset and win their conference tournament while the expected champ still gets an at large bid. That could happen a couple of times. Not to mention, other bubble teams could make unexpected runs. Winning Saturday, then making it to Saturday in SEC would put us in under most scenarios and we wouldn't have to worry about that as much.

If we beat mizz, then we get bounced on Thursday while other SEC bubble teams play on and a couple teams pull conf tourney upsets, I wouldn't like our chances.

Win Saturday, then get a 4 seed, beat a 5 seed on Friday and we are in. We'd have 20 wins and we'd have wins against 3 quality opponents in our last 5 games.

I couldn't agree more.

We could lose to mizzou and still have a reasonable shot.to hear our name called should we make the sect championship game imo...

Depends on what ole miss and Bama do.

If Bama and Ole Miss win then we would get the 4 seed and UK would be the 5

What are the odds of getting you to start a thread with every scenario, and possible seeding? Then we can maybe all figure out which one we want lol

Modeled afters Hubbs' article:

5. Alabama (2-2)
6. Missouri (1-2)
Kentucky/Alabama tie breaker: Both teams lost to Florida once; defer to record vs. Ole Miss - Kentucky beat Ole Miss once, Alabama lost in their only meeting

Never mind golf just saw this lol...thanks anyway. This needs it's own thread or needs to remain bumped in this thread.

This is the scenario I see btw...

This would have us getting a double bye, and playing most likely UK on Friday....would everyone like this draw? I definitely don't like the scenarios that have us playing Missouri in our first or 2nd game...guess it comes down to would you rather play UK or Ole Miss?

This is crazy, we could also drop down a couple seeds. We have to stay away from the 8/9 seed thus away from Florida however if we could beat them again then that might be best case scenario.

If we lose Georgia wins again, LSU wins, and Arkansas win, we will be tied and since we lost twice to UGA and to Arkansas, we would fall all the way to the 9 seed.

This is close to being a tossup for me. UK is really struggling, but they're still dangerous.

I think a win over ole miss would look better considering their place on the bubble. Also, it's very rare to beat a good team 3 times in a year. Throw in the fact that Nashville will still have a decent share of big blue fans, I'm still sticking with Ole Miss

But first, lets take care of Missouri!

Regardless of who you want to play UK or Ole Miss, it requires Florida and Bama winning this weekend. The difference is based on the Ole Miss game

Of all the teams we could end up playing in a second game, Kentucky would be who I would want. Anyone could be dangerous (ie: Georgia x2), but Kentucky looked like they are about to pack it in for the year. They looked pretty bad last night.

Yup that's what I'm thinking...Saturday will be telling. They're at home, if Florida beats them down you may have a lot of people wave the white flag and not even make the trip to Nashville.

So the best option is to get a double-bye and play Kentucky in our first game?

If we have to beat a quality team then yes. If one more win gets us in regardless of competition then obviously I'd prefer no double bye...unfortunately there's no real way of knowing that answer.

I feel like a win over Missouri and we are solidly in, a win over another scrub only improves our spot, and a loss to a quality team hopefully won't knock us out. I guess I'm looking at it that a win over Missouri + win over Vandy - loss to UK is better than just a win over Missouri and - loss to UK.

In order of teams I don't wanna see...

Florida, Missouri, Ole miss, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia

This Missouri game is absolutely huge. Know everyone here knows it, but dang. Not sure I've seen so much come down to one game. If we win it, I think we're likely a tourney team and most likely earn one of the top 4 sec spots as well.

There are a lot of "selling my SEC tournament tickets" threads on thier site...
