No one said he is the best DC at this level. That doesn't mean a comparison to Wilcox isn't absurd. Monte has about 20 years of work (including last year, which was impressive) to compare to Wilcox. At this stage, it is a ridiculous comparison, and outside of this board, you'd be laughed at for making it.

I hope Wilcox becomes a hall of famer and builds the best defenses we've ever seen, but right now let's not be silly.

I'll try to keep that in mind Mr. Madden.. I think we are saying the same thing.. You can't compare the 2 as there isn't the same body of work...

To be honest though as I pay my internet bill and Freak doesn't kick me out I will continue to type what I think and folks from inside or outside can and/or can not read it.. You may want to add me and several other people to the ignore list if something this small get's your blood pressure up..not to mention you read what you wanted to read in my post..:eek:k:

Precisely. One is a hall of fame Defensive Coordinator at the highest level of football, and the other is a young DC from the WAC. This argument is beyond retarded.

New topic: Who is a better baseball player: Willie Mays or Jeff from the church softball league? Willie Mays was pretty good, but he didn't prove anything on the same level as Jeff.

I'm not part of the argument but this is waaay off base!!!

Are you saying that Jeff from the Church league was able to play in the Major Leagues with his team "every so often" and was able to beat them on some of the biggest stages out there? :good!:

For real.... I'm a Steeler fan and loved Chuck Noll for winning 4 Super Bowls for us but I wouldn't want him coaching UT right now. Heck, I think him and Monte are probably not too far away in age. LoL I'm a HUGE NFL fan and have respected Monte for years but that dude is definitely pushin' it. I was so freakin' excited last year with him comin' on board but I was totally disappointed.
If you don't agree then maybe I'm missin' something here...???

:eek:lol: Mayes was pretty good... Just like Monte was pretty good (actually great) in the NFL, but that wasn't the same type of player that is at this level, as I stated he was great there, but he hasn't really done a lot at this level against current offensive schemes... I stand by my argument that Wilcox and/or alot of other DCs have accomplished as much as he has at this level..Not to mention the fact that he isn't exactly a spring chicken anymore and he isn't in his prime anymore...

Back to the original question who is (not was) the better current baseball player... Young Jeff that is currently playing and still has all of his baseball wits about him or Mayes, Mantle, or Aaron... The 3 of them were the best there was in the day, but there day was yesterday.. not today.. As far as retarded you have your right to your opinion, but I don't think mine is wrong simply because you disagree with it.. Monte was great at one point, but it doesn't mean his is still great...

I can tell you this:

1) Monte is a very good DC
2) Wilcox has shown some signs of being a very good DC

but to knock his success in the WAC as if its 1st graders playing 1st graders is just stupid.

What if we did the following?
Lets take Saban, Meyer, Stoops, Spurrier, Carrol, and Dooley and changed their names as well as looks (Stay with me here :) ). Then we put them in Division three schools to see who could come out successful. Would you call that a very challenging situation? If one of them was then offered a top Division 1 job after having to fight through each others talent would you be on this board saying that they came from some low level talent situation and can't do it at this level?

I don't care if your working with High Schooler on up, every situation is going to be tough and if you can find a way to over exceed in your area for years then I say you are very good at what you do.

Weird analogy but I figure I got the point accross to those that care to see.

Monte Kiffin is a living legend. Wilcox just started shaving every day a few years ago. That being said I love the hire. Between Wilcox and Chuck Smith I expect the defense to be in incredible shape for the long term.

lol i'm on ur side man. ben martin and chris walker are gone after this season. he could step in and start after they are gone. if not he at least provides depth and will bring speed off the edge on passing downs...
