Possible USC transfer- DE Malik Jackson

No. Just No.

yes! just yes! If i was a kid who had no fav school when growing up id go to a team that would most likely help me develop the skills i need to go to the NFL. So why not go where Monte is? Especially If you lived in the tampa are where he is worshiped. Your an idiot!

Umm, are you arguing that Wilcox is a better DC than one of the best DC's in football history?

No I am questioning why the poster made the assumption that Monte was better.. He did a lot of good things in the NFL, but when was the last time he did something great at this level?

The only thing I really saw him do was keep Berry from breaking the record.. Berry would have been a top draft pick with or wiithout him..

Um, Monte was pretty great last year. We had one of the best defenses in the country without an offense for a better part of the year. I'm bummed and heartbroken he left too, but Monte is a hall of famer, bar none.

Yeah but that goes both ways. When was the last time Wilcox did anything in the NFL? I just can't see how anyone would say Wilcox is a better DC than X's dad.

Oh, Monte could have played Berry deep instead of on the LOS. We would have had the worst run defense in the SEC, but at least Berry would break a record that no one outside the UT fanbase would remember or care about a week later.

No doubt he is a good one..I'm not saying that at all.. I would have to check as I am not sure, but I don't think his defense we ranked as high as Chief's was the year bofore.. No doubt he was the best during his prime, but I think his prime has long passed him by.. I doubt he would have even had a job in Tampa if he hadn't left to come here.. I think that whole staff had worn out it's welcome down there..

It doesn't mean he is a bad guy unless you believe the old saying "our kids are simply a relfection of ourselves"

True. Monte didn't have the luxury of playing 6 of the 20 worst offenses in the country like Corn Dog Chavis did in '08.

Oregon is UO Oklahoma is OU.

That is true.. Never really thought about it in that detail.. I was just typing and that is what I typed.. Sorry I made the assumption that everyone knew I meant Oregon.. I should have known better.. Thanks for the correction though..

Not to mention the injuries we had to deal with on defense last year (and arrests, Janzen).

Also, are we comparing Monte to Chavis or Wilcox? Let's not change the subject. No one is saying Chavis wasn't solid. That doesn't mean Monte wasn't as well.

He hasn't.. That's my point..You really can't compare the 2....,but to be honest when was the last time Monte did anything in the NFL either.. It has been awhile

I didn't say Monte wasn't solid... In fact I said the oposite.. I said he doesn't have a current body of work at this level to compare to.. Owner's pay the player's in the NFL and it generally a diffrent class of athelete..The players aren't paid at this level unless they go to USC to play for Yaw Yaw, Kitten & Carrol..:birgits_giggle:

Seriously though I don't think Monte is a bad coach..Lord he is/was a legend in the NFL & he may walk on water this year out there, but he hasn't been the best DC I have seen at this level at least not yet..

Why not change the subject ?Every thread on here never stays on subject.

IMO Monte's system is as we all know very complex, if he could get a group of kids on campus to learn the system for 4 years, it would be nasty, but Wilcox is an up and comer and although UT is not stacked liked we were used to being, he will have more talent this year than he has ever had. Cant go wrong with either IMO.
