No. Your best recruiter is usually your RC regardless of the position he coaches. Coach O will probably be our new RC.

You mentioned a 4.5 million budget in an earlier post,,, I think Hamilton and CLK looked at it like Stoops is at 6 million,,,by himself. If we bring in a 2 - 2.5 million dollar coach we can bring in a top notch NFL caliber staff and still be under a Texas or Oklahoma type budget.

So you get Monte at 1 million, Coach O at 500k, a first rate OC at 750k (that's why I think Callahan is coming) and fill in the rest at 300k - 400k depending on
position, etc. and you are under 7 million for the staff.

This may get us a NC,, at the least we are back on top tier along with SoCal, Florida, Ok,and Texas. I think you will see OSU and Michigan following our lead in a couple of years - at least as far as budget for coaches go. Bama is probably maxed out with Satans salary.

The money could not have worked out any better. Maximize it over several people, not just the HC. If we gain ground in coaching on the elite programs in the country, it is because we just didn't throw 3.5 to 4.5 mil. at one guy. If this works Hamilton has gone from goat in some ways to a genius. I like the approach.

I am eager to see Lane Kiffin's offensive system. What types of plays can we expect to see in the playbook?

Actually the raiders o-line was one of the few bright spots on the team. Not saying it was awesome but it wasnt their weak spot at all.

I dont know how good the raiders o-line was but it has to be better than the o-line we have now.

I think LK will adapt to his talent. Not just saying it and not putting athletes in at QB to run sweeps either...but most of all, I expect to see a different level of physicality from the UT O-line from this point forward. That's something that has been missing for quite some time now. Look up some old USC gametape from '05 & '06. I would say that'll be about what we'll get.

Zach Miller was Kiffin's pick. Consolation for having to take Jamarcus which Kiffin did not want. And yes he is very good. The O-line was good at Run blocking and absolutely awful at pass blocking. Mainly it became good at run blocking when Kiffin got there. He moved Gallery to guard and signed Cooper Carlise. He has scrubs at Tackle or over the hill. Al would not let him draft O-line in the first round or trade pick so he was stuck with running and quick throws to TE and RB/FBs in the flat. He made it work as well as you could. The QB has about 2 secs to make a throw with their blocking.

They led the league by about 20 sacks over the next team when Kiffin got there. He lowered that but threw very quick routes or ran. Just sayin there line was and is one of the worst in the league. Kiffin is just a very smart guy, somewhat like Cut with the quick releases from Ainge. He managed the situation.

Sounds like Kiffin made the best of a bad situation. Which also sounds leaps and bounds over the current situation.

Mark Smith is likely the new S and C coach. Previously at South Carolina, he also worked with the Redskins and UF. Seems to be a SOS guy and some South Carolina fans think that they will make a push to keep him and are treating this as a much bigger loss than Reaves.
