The defensive staff is almost complete. I'm being told that it will look like:
Monte- DC
Ed O- DL
Joe Whitt Jr.- DB
with the LB spot still to be determined.

How about Major Applewhite as OC

Whitt is at Louisville right? Other than that, know nothing about him.
Currently at Green Bay but was at Louisville. He was there recruiting coordinator and on of the top 10 recruiters in the country. His bio is linked in the first post.

looks like Gonzales has followed Meyer around, why would he consider coming here?
Part of the rumor is that he and Urban have had a falling out of sorts, kind of like Urban and Drayton last year. Don't believe it will happen, but that is the rumor.

I remember reading before about some of the 'questionable' we'll say recruiting done by Petrino in his time at Louisville... wouldn't be worried about that kind of thing with Whitt, or is it just a Petrino thing?

I don't know but one would have to wonder if any of Petrino rubbed off on him.

hey guys, not a vol fan but definitely a lane kiffin fan and i have a lot of fun following the coaching carousels going on around the country at the college level. A couple names that should not be forgotten on the defensive side of the ball are:

David Watson (USC DL Coach): Kiffin's best friend growing up and the person who got him the job at USC. He also lived with the Kiffins for a time in Minnesota. I have seen where both Kiffins (Monte and Lane) have said very very good things about him.

Lloyd Lee (Chicago Bears LB Coach): Not for sure but must be one of Lane Kiffins friends because they came from the Minneapolis area and I saw an interview where Lee was talking about Lane after he got the Raiders head coaching job. Lee also worked for Monte Kiffin at Tampa Bay, where he met Lovie Smith, whom he works for today.

To me, these two names make a lot of sense.
I want to also say I have become a Vol fan today and I think if you can keep Lane Kiffin at the college level, you have yourselves a very special coach.
