Potential Coaching Staff Members (list)

Hes only agreed to terms with MSU, and it was just on Tuesday when it got announced. Hes not officially hired yet I dont believe.

Joseph would be a knockout at DBs. LSU fans were salivating over the possibility of landing him before they landed usce's DB coach. They were more excited about that possibility than the chance to land Orgeron.

Then, I guess there's still an opportunity for Tennessee to make a run at him. We'll see what happens.

Problem here is Joseph and Wilson are both Louisiana specialists. It sure would be nice to hire a guy that has strong ties to D.C./Tidewater, VA. That's why Perry would be huge.

Do we know if Lane has talked to him, or is he a name right now.

So far, I all I have heard is Hughes, and Perry lately.

Hubbs said that Hughes isn't a name that he's been hearing, but Perry and Joseph are possiblities, though Perry isn't likely.

The thing is that the talk about Garner and the talk about Thompson all just seemed to be fan suggestions until it was either done or almost done. Chaney wasn't a name that was heard of until he was hired. Wilson seems likely right now, but he can coach DBs or WRs. Our last slot could be another big name that hasn't been discussed.

We are continuing to work the completion of Tennessee's staff, and it appears more and more likely that Frank Wilson will join the staff as the Vols' wide receivers coach as first noted earlier today. A name we hear pretty strongly to complete the defensive staff is Willie Mack Garza, who recently was hired at New Mexico but was not officially introduced there. Garza is a former Texas player who has coached at TCU and most recently was defensive coordinator at North Dakota State.

A board at MSU has to approve his hire before it is final and I have heard nothing about it being final. I would like to see us get Wilson, I think he would be a great addition to the staff.

Depends. Problem is that a pipeline to Texas for us would mean a recruit or two here and there. There's not a whole lot to pull from there with Texas, LSU, OU, etc pulling most of the big ones. OTOH, certain areas of D.C./Tidewater could give us 3-5 recruits a year and the main competition is either VT or another non-region school, ala UF. Still yet, not every coach can be a knockout. Wilson is a very good hire, if it goes through. We'd likely end up with 3 coaches under 200k since I'd guess Wilson would make 220-250k area. Reaves, Cregg, and likely WMG will make around 150k.

LSU boards would blow up, if we landed Joseph. Prolly wouldn't be happy about Wilson either.

I ain't saying nothing. Thompson was a pipe dream to me.

I doubt seriously that it wasn't EVER going to happen...I think BG was somebody CLK was going after hard core...obviously it was kept on the quietest of quiets but that's not to say it was never in the works.
