Potential Jeremy Pruitt Staff At UT

Chip Lindsey had a new contract on the table about three weeks ago. $800K/yr with a three year buyout. So hiring him would cost a $2.4M buyout, if it was signed, plus first year salary. Wonder how high Tee's tab would run.

That's actually not that bad of a staff. Pruitt and Martin are 2 premier recruiters. If they can develop talent, we will be in pretty good shape.

If Pruitt brought in Martin and Lupoi it would be the best recruiting staff in the nation......and second wouldn't be close. Pruitt and Lupoi can certainly develop talent, and Martin has developed some great receivers.

they would just need GREAT O and D line coaches......Lupoi has coached D line, but he is a LB guy.....I think.

Between the 3 of them (Pruitt, Lupoi & Martin) they hold 4 of the past 5 #1 recruiter spots, and Martin was 2nd one of those years.

If we hire ANY coordinator and he doesn’t bring on Tee Martin as OC, that’s the last straw for me.... Having Tee back is the only thing that could make this pathetic hire tolerable.

Whatever Tee's "tab" would be.......you pay it. Tee has been the #1 or #2 recruiter 3 of the past 4 years and he was still top 10 the other year.........Lindsey.......never in the top 25.

Not to mention Tee has developed some great players, and has a great O, and is a VFL.

Pretty close. I would change a couple things. Also, you get a tenth coach in January.

OC- Tee Martin (Tennessee connection)
QB- Randy Sanders (FSU connection)
RB- Jay Graham (FSU connection)
WR- Jimmie Doughtery (former UCLA/Washington wide receivers coach)
TE/ST- John Lilly (Georgia connection)
OL- Mario Cristobal (Alabama connection)
DC- Marion Hobby (Tennessee connection)
DL- Chris Rumph (Alabama connection)
AHC/LB- Tosh Lupoi (Alabama connection)
DB- Terry Fair (Tennessee connection

Cristobal is at Oregon right now and the interim. Be interesting to see what happens there (also believe him and Pruitt are close). You bring in Tee and give him comfort with Sanders/Graham as backfield mates. Doughtery is a heck of a recruiter (no current connection) but looking for a job). John Lilly also looking for a job and was TE/ST coach at Georgia while Pruitt was there.

I think you need Hobby. Elite defensive line coach. You bring him and Rumph and you have an elite defensive line coaching. I think Pruitt would still call the defense but give Hobby a mil to help Rumph coach the DL and gameplan like he did at Clemson. Lupoi would be a godsend as an assistant coach. Bring in Fair to work with Hobby and give him one of his own guys (I know they haven't worked together but Tennessee connection and all).

Not arguing, but how much of Tee's recruiting was hard work? There's a boatload of 4 and 5 star talent in his area, with USC as their dream school. His HC was previous OC, so Tee should have a good schooling, but how much responsibility for decisions does he carry? We see great reports about Tee, but there is some mystery about what he actually does.

3 likely top 10 recruiters on one staff. Yea the HC exp is not there but all of these guys are proven AC's. The negativity on here is unreal at times. We were never gonna get a good coach after the first coach we wanted to hire called Bill Snyder and asked about Currie. Add in some Schinao and there ya have it. We would be lucky to have this staff.

This kind of thinking is truly laughable. There are a lot of good OC's out there

Because this sucks and we should be able to at least hire a HC that has some experience.

Les Miles was my pick with Tee as OC, but a Pruitt hire makes sense, especially with a staff like described in the article.

Maybe we finally get a coach that has some balls and isn’t afraid to take some chances, a coach that’s gonna actually motivate the players and develop those players. Jeremy Pruitt has been a successful coach at every stop UGA being only exception and that was due to Mark Richt reeling in his aggressiveness

I look at Pruitt as a defensive version of Lane Kiffin. Has a little baggage regarding character, but players like playing for him, he can recruit and he has a little swagger. At least this is my perception of him.

Except Pruitt has been part of 3 National Championship teams, and could be on one now (that makes 4...) Also won two titles in high school. Every where he goes, he wins. Give the guy a chance.

Out of everyone left, he is who I want the most to come here. I’m happy with it 👌

Is there any chance at poaching Rodney Garner from Auburn? He was a fantastic recruiter for the Vols, back in the mid-90's. He routinely raided Georgia and South Carolina for the very best prospects in those two states. The 98 NC team had his fingerprints all over it.

When Georgia lured him away, things began to turn their way in recruiting. Now, Auburn is consistently a legit threat to take SEC west every year. That's no accident. Hopefully, CPF is on his back to come home to Knoxvegas.

Volnation, if Pruitt is hired, here is my question:

What happens if Pruitt does not want Martin for his OC?

Who cares? USC is looking forward to this guy leaving. I get it, he's one of our own, but other then that fact, why does everyone here want him?

Who might be Pruitt's Strength Coach? We got pushed around a lot this season. Does Gullickson stay or not?

Totally had forgotten about Rodney Garner... guy was a real recruiter. When he left the air went out of UT recruiting as I recall

A proven winner....THAT'S the big difference over our last three hires at HC. Also, it's all about the staff in my opinion. The OC, DC and position coaches are who really get things done when it comes to coaching up the players. Look at Butch's staff. What is the one position that routinely got better....RB. All other positions regressed from the minutes they arrived on campus. Also, look at the turn-over at those other positions. I'm just not nearly as concerned about our HC hire as I am the staff that the new HC puts in place.
