Potential Jeremy Pruitt Staff At UT

If he or any of the other d guys are hired, they need to find their Chad Morris. Someone who is innovative on offense and is putting up video game numbers somewhere. I would actually hope they make a run at Tony Elliot from Clemson. Give him a full OC job and convince him it's a fast path to a HC job, which is what he wants.

The sign of a bad program or a coach that isn't doing it right is when his coordinators aren't getting hired away to be head coaches. Phillip Fulmer failed the university in that way. He didn't bring in innovative minds, it was either Cut between HC gigs or nothing at all. It's amazing a man can coach 16 years and not produce any notable head coaches.

So if was able to get all of these coaches, AL would be replacing a few coaches in the off season...

Let's grab Pruitt from bamer for HC

Venables DC
Warren DB
Steele LB
Kuligowski DL

Tee Asst HC/QB/Recruiting
Chaney OC
Gilespie RB
Pittman OL

S&C Scott Cochran

That should do it.

If not Martin, Cristobal for OC please. He's interim at Oregon but I'd be surprised if they keep him. He could also follow Taggart to FSU.

They should definitely try to pull Cristobal for OL coach. I think he and Pruitt crossed paths at Bama. That's the trick, Saban finds guys who are both good/great recruiters AND good at developing players. We've seen talented recruiters come and go, but they also have to be able to coach.

If not Tee, other potential hires at OC:

Mike Locksley
Chip Lindsey
Mario Cristobal
Brent Key
Tim Brewster
Will Friend
Randy Sanders
Herb Hand

Tee is headed for a head coaching position but needs experience. He may be best ripening on the vine in Cal. If Pruitt doesn’t work out Tee would then be ready.

Because this sucks and we should be able to at least hire a HC that has some experience.

Well we can't at this point so we need to come to grips with that. This is not the UT we grew up with. Sucks but it's not. To many big boosters with their hand in the pot and poor leadership.

Pruitt is a great DC. At least I think he should be recognized for that. Is he ready to sit in the big chair? If we are going to find out, then we will know in a year or two.

I wonder how many Dawg fans felt like this 2 years ago when they hired lifelong DC Kirby Smart to be HC.

There are about a dozen negative nellies that live on this board and they will never be happy with anything. Nick is not coming to Tennessee and neither is Gruden or the Pope for that matter.

Pruitt is a very strong hire for Tennessee and if we get Tee Martin as OC we will not have to worry about going 12 quarters again without a single touchdown. Great recruiters which we really need now to get our talent level back to SEC championship levels.

Ask 3 of the 4 coaches in this years playoffs how much head coaching experience they had before becoming head coaches of their current teams.

Ah yes this tired analogy. Would you like for me to educate you on the massive differences between OU, UGA and Clemson's situation than ours? Ok.

Clemson- Dabo took over for Bowden. He walked into a good program that in the previous 2 years went 17-9 and 10-6 in conference play. The placed second in the ACC atlantic both yesrs.

UGA- Kirby took over an absolutely loaded roster full of upperclassmen and the best stable of RBs in the nation. Richt was basically a perpetual 10 win coach.

Oklahome- this needs even less mention than Georgia. Riley took over for Stoops. A guy with 11 conference titles and he never finished less than 2nd in the division.

Now we get to us, the Tennessee Vols. Whatever coach gets here will have little to work with. We havent won double digit games since 2007. Our team isnt very talented. OL is pur garbage, besidse Smith. QB and WR play is bad. TE? Basically non existent. DL? Trash. Lbs? I mean lol. Secondary has improved, but still not very good. The lone bright spot is our RBs.

By now you should see the glaring differences between UT and the teams you referenced.

Well next time somebody serenades practice with their IPOD, make it an opera. Since nearly every one ever written is about a tragedy, it seems fitting.

I can 100% guarantee that this will not be his full staff if hired.

I literally LOL’d at two of the names if you knew their history. Nothing at all related to Tn on who they could hire or afford just the history of a couple names on the list with Pruitt. Author is clueless.

Absolutely. I hate to say it but half of the folks on this board appear to be of the new generation. No work and entitled to instant whatever they want with zero effort. So so unfortunate. And did I mention they actually even have less clue what they are even talking about ... the majority of the time. No use in trying to tell them anything. O but by the way ... They are right !! Just ask them, or not, they will let u know. But what do I know. Prolly as little as they do .. or less obviously. O yea. And these folks vote !!!!

Not arguing, but how much of Tee's recruiting was hard work? There's a boatload of 4 and 5 star talent in his area, with USC as their dream school. His HC was previous OC, so Tee should have a good schooling, but how much responsibility for decisions does he carry? We see great reports about Tee, but there is some mystery about what he actually does.

Tee Martin has been the #1 or #2 recruiter 3 of the past 4 years.....with the other year being #10. There are other recruiters on the USC staff including the HC........yet Tee is the only one ranked that high. Bama seems to get all the 5 stars now days.....because kids want to go there.......yet........Tee is still a better recruiter than anyone Bama has on their staff......same with Clemson or anyone.

You don't become the best recruiter in the nation without WORKING hard for it. Tee is directly responsible for the development of many NFL players and is rated as the best WR developer (not coach, but developer) in the nation. He also is a great OC and as he has stated has learned a lot of his O style from Lane Kiffin.

Not saying he is the best coach in the world.......but if any Tennessee coach needed an OC, why in the world you look anywhere else. With Tee they would get an OC with a scheme more like "Tennessee" style of football (a down TE, duel RB's, run heavy.....with down field passing....with a zone read look) and that would work with the players Tennessee has, and you would gain a lot of support form fans, players, and former players (because of his Tennessee ties), and you would also gain the best recruiter in the nation.....so not sure why any Tennessee coach would not get him.
