Anyone who thinks a qb can't grow from junior to senior year look at Zach mettenberger. Kid after his junior year was a lost cause and look at him now. In that case worley is the man or so I hope
I think Worley is the leader going into Spring. I've also read a lot about Dobbs doing extra work over the holiday's and so far during Winter workouts. He seems to really want it. While Ferguson seems to have many physical and mental attributes that people really like and see could make him a great QB, he's been pretty publicly quiet over the Winter workouts. In my opinion he would really have to make a huge splash this Spring to unseat either Worley or Dobbs as the starter.
If either Worley or Dobbs win the start with Ferguson and Peterman as 3rd and 4th I think one or both of Ferguson and Peterman would transfer.
Worley will probably start. And with more weapons this year he may be able to hold on to it. After the Peterman experiment, I doubt BJ will have a quick trigger to pull him even after a couple of losses. But I am curious to see how Ferg will compete after being healthy and having a full year in the system.
5. Tennessee Volunteers
Quarterbacks: Josh Dobbs, Riley Ferguson
....Dobbs first three games were at Alabama, at SEC Eastern Division champ Missouri and against Western Division (and conference) champ Auburn. So you say you want to play college football, do you?
The experience could pay dividends in 2014 for Dobbs, an engineering student with a 4.0 GPA who has plenty of smarts and drive. Ferguson, a Charlotte native who redshirted in 2013, is the more natural athlete and passer. Odds seem high that both quarterbacks will play while one finds a groove in what could be another challenging year in Butch Jones transition. Bear in mind that its essentially an all-new offensive line in front of whoever wins the job. That has a way of making the QB look bad, even if it isnt entirely (or even remotely) his fault. ....
