Predict the East

1. USC - must find a replacement for Shaw 10-2, but everything else is solid.
2. UGA - must find a defense 9-3
3. UF - QB needs to step up, but the defense is loaded again. 8-4
4. UT - playmakers on offense, but a QB needs to step up, must replace both lines. 7-5
5. Mizzou - heavy losses on both sides of the ball. 6-6
6. Vandy - still a few of Franklin's players left, 5-7
7. Kentucky - improving but still not there 4-8

That's true, my point was that I feel they can't just use their athleticism to beat us this time. If they are a more pro-style in the vein of Cut even better. Jancek seems to call a lot better game against that style of offense.

Cut did not run a pro style offense at Duke last season, did you ever watch them play?

I watched them a little bit and I knew they ran the spread. I just figured Muschamp wanted to run a pro-style like he had previously been doing. Roper has experience with that considering he was on Cut's staff at Tennessee. Just looked it up and saw that they are running the spread, my bad.

Even so, my point is still valid. I don't think they can just use their athleticism to beat us to the edge and go for a 60 yard wr screen.

Started the worst qb in UT history. Turned the ball over six times. Still managed to stay within two scores of them.

Were you one of the many on here that was excited that Peterman got the nod?

Also, UF's replacement QB wasn't any better than Peterman. UT just made him look good.

1. Georgia-the best backfield in the SEC

2. Tennessee-competitive against everyone except Missiouri last year in the SEC East.

3. Florida-coming of a 4-8 season they are due for a little luck and should benefit greatly from Missiouri and South Carolina dropping off

4. South Carolina-they haven't been able to recruit with the rest of the pack, and will suffer from major loses on the dline.

5. Missiouri-last years SEC east champ lost more talent than anyone else

6. Kentucky-a big recruiting class and another year in the same system is enough to put them ahead of Vandy

7. Vandy-between a horrible recruiting class, learning a new system, and losing many of there top players, expect a major decline from Vandy this season.

Why does anyone even remotely think USC will drop off any?Spurrier pulls the best from every team he coaches.

SEC East "Prediction"
1. South Carolina
2. Georgia
3. Tennessee - 2nd toughest conference schedule
4. Florida - toughest conference schedule
5. Missouri - easiest conference schedule
6. Vanderbilt
7. Kentucky
Just my own opinion of what my prediction of the SEC East outcome will be. U can take it with a grain of salt. I have the right to my own opinion just like everybody else does. At the end of the day it will come down to who wants it more, who has a better game plan & who doesn't commit self inflicting wounds.

If Spurrier's success can be attributed to UGA and UF being on a down cycle, then why haven't we capitalized on the same thing? Hint: because SC is a deeper, more talented team and have been for the better part of the last half decade.

Because UT has been down right horrible during the same period. That's the point. Their best football has corresponded to down periods for the big 3. If any of those 3 programs had been consistently at their "norm" for the past 30 years or so... USCe never has the kind of success they've had even with Spurrier.

BUT... feel free to make your case by pointing to all the elite recruits he's landed creating depth at every position. Please stick to the ones still on the roster.

Let's start with QB just to get the ball rolling. Likely starter, Dylan Thompson... former 2* player at a 3/4 A high school program in the upstate. He wasn't missed. Offered by no one but Spurrier. He's backed up by a 3* who had no other SEC offers.

Spurrier has taken marginal talent, added in some studs, coached up some magic, and won games.

The loss of Clowney, Legree, and Quarles will change their D significantly. Thompson may not even be good enough to hang on to the job. He's definitely no Shaw.

But to your point... isn't that EXACTLY the kind of coach we want at UT? Isn't that what we should expect from Jones?

"4. South Carolina-they haven't been able to recruit with the rest of the pack, and will suffer from major loses on the dline."

Does this perhaps sound like a familiar theme? Perhaps what our competition is saying about us?

Probably not. UT has not been well coached since sometime in the early '00's except for the two years when Cut came back.

After looking at the schedule, I made some adjustments.

Top 5 teams interplay with SECwest games included.

1a) USCe
Home: aTm, GA, Mizzou, TN; Away: Aub, FL
1b) GA
H: Aub, TN; A: USCe, Mizzou, Ark; Neutral: FL in Jax (yet another cupcake SECW schedule!)
3) Tenn
H: FL, AL, Mizzou; R: GA, Ole Miss, USCe
4) FL
H: Mizzou, USCe, LSU; A: TN, AL; N: GA in Jax (psuedo-Home game).
5) Mizzou
H: GA, Ark; A: TN, FL, USCe, aTm ( I wouldn't be surprised if UK passes them with this schedule and their attrition).

1. Georgia- 9-3

2.) South Carolina 8-4

3.) Tennessee 7-5

4) Florida 6-6

5.) Mizzou 6-6

6.) Kentucky 5-7

7.) Vandy 4-8

I'll admit it, I was. Dooley's staff talked about Peterman like he was the next Tebow.

It turns out that Chuck Smith was right about ole Dooley

I remember him bailing, but you'll have to refresh me in what he said.

If you remember, Coach Chaney said Bray, Worley, and Peterman were the best group of qb's who had ever coached. And he's coached at least two NFL qb's I can think of (not counting Bray). One of which (Brees) is a future hall of famer.

I might be wrong but the notion that usc jr will win the east has me laughing out loud. they will fold down the stretch like always and georgia will too. If we can beat FLA we will have a chance to win the east at the end against vandy.

you're laughing at the notion of south carolina or georgia winning the division, but tennessee having a chance to win the division makes complete sense

6. Kentucky
7. Vandy

TN beat SC on a last second field goal and Steve Spurrier starts eating his visor and begins choking, Butch Jones performs the Hemlich and then Tell him to F off and don't ever F with TN again..

This is a good post and something to look at from the perspective of whom the SECE division winner will be. I do think UT will be 3/4 and that is saying a lot since we have been a cellar-dweller, but we lost a great many games due to QB play and that has to improve from experience and health. That is if our lines don't stink it up as we are far better off them. We have to win on the road besides Kentucky and it has been a while.

UF has a tough schedule while Vandy's is the easiest (but they will fall hard). Mizzou will be riding the roller coaster as seen in their first SEC year due to attrition. USCE has significant attrition as well and a great many large holes to fill. UGA if healthy will be dangerous but we have seen what injuries do to some dynamic players. They should be a clear winner in my eyes. UK, well, they still have Cal.
