it is almost impossible to get top four without 2/3 healthy, world class scorers in your lineup. Basically, you have to spend champions-level money to make the champions league out of EPL. Those clubs you name will never have the resources to pull that off. That said, nothing would give me more excitement in soccer than for Forest to get promoted and add a third star in my lifetime.Honestly it’s time for past dominant teams like Villa, Everton, Newcastle, and Leeds to rise up. Crazy fans for all of them and they deserve better.

Even that is no guarantee. Everton were top-10 spenders in all of Europe over the past 5-7 years and only avoided relegation, and almost certain subsequent financial calamity, by the skin of their teeth. English fans need to get ahold of themselves, and pretty quickly. This is the second time in a week a player has been assaulted during post-match celebrations, fans have been sneaking tons of flares into games, and all season long have been standing at matches even at grounds where safe standing hasn’t been installed. The entire Gwladys Street stood for most of every Everton match I was at this past winter. If they aren’t careful, some of the draconian rules that were brought in post-Hillsborough may see a return.
I'd actually forgotten about Viera. That was really just a close call that fortunately didn't come to anything. A Sheffield Utd player was actually head butted by Notts Forest fans during their pitch invasion last week.I hope there is no punishment for Vieira for what happened at Goodison Park. And I hope fences do not make a return.

Absolutely. There’s just no need for any sort of violence at sporting events. For a while it was easily attributable to people having been cooped up for almost two years because of COVID, but we’re way, way past the cabin fever stage now. It’s a culture issue that needs to be solved many levels beyond the pitch.
America has its own problems, but I don’t need to worry about wearing orange in Kentucky because I’m pretty sure no one’s going to assault me for that
we've gotten soft. when I was a kid in the 70s, post-game parking lot brawls were the norm. if you couldn't goad a visiting fan into a fight, you'd just take on other vols. I guess it was a bad time to be a wuss, but unlike now people were not getting killed over stupid stuff that could be settled with fists. It’s a culture issue that needs to be solved many levels beyond the pitch.

For what it’s worth though, home and away fans being completely segregated is a better setup that what we have where big fan bases just go take over their opponents home stadiums.
I am hoping to go to a Boca Juniors home match later this year. if I showed up there wearing another club's kit, I'd full expect to leave in an ambulance or hearse.I don’t know how true this is, but in one of my Villa Facebook (yeah yeah, I know) groups, they warn visitors to avoid certain parts of Birmingham or at least don’t wear anything Villa related because of the Birmingham City hooligans.
