I prefer to watch Mitrovic on the ball. Yes, Haaland will score more, but I enjoy seeing Mitrovic on the ball. Haaland is a rocket on through balls. But Mitrovic has an incredible work rate.
That’s like saying I’d rather watch Steve Beurlein over Peyton Manning.

I don’t see it that way. To me it’s more like preferring to watch Mahomes play instead of Brady.

I’m not saying he is better. From a purely soccer standpoint, I just prefer to watch one over the other.

Seriously though, the UK goes all third world country memorializing the Queen. Sure, have a state funeral, but life goes on.

The only ones I can understand are the games in London on the weekend of the funeral this weekend. Apparently the policing is going to be insane for the funeral which leaves not enough police at the stadiums. That at least makes sense if it’s true.. but last weekends games should have been played, IMO.

Not upset about the Arsenal/ Manchester City match being postponed, gives more time for a couple of our players to come back from injuries.

I read another article that talked about in addition to policing numbers being an issue, also the number of Sky news equipment: vans, helicopters, etc. being pulled from sports coverage to cover the funeral is also another wrinkle on the delay.

Potter making me nervous seeing this first lineup.

Looks like possible back 4, or it’s really a back 5 but in a 3-1-4-2. Idk, I know he can be flexible and tactical with formations but this feels a bit crazy to me that Azpicueta in a back 4 if that’s it. With only Jorghino as the lone DM 🥴

Potter has been quoted as not being too concerned with the formations too much. It’s more about the positioning of the players on the pitch. You will probably see lots of 3 box 3 or even a 4-4-2 diamond come out of that. Give him a little time. I’m curious to see how Sterling plays today.

Yeah my biggest concern was Azpi where he’s at but we will see. Can’t afford another loss or it’s going to be hard to make it out of group stage.

Better put on your big boy pants for Milan coming up next.

I know it’s going to take some time to really start to see the full effects of Potters fingerprints on the team, but one thing I noticed which is already appreciated is he loosened the reins on the midfield/attack. Tuchel was always so worried about controlling the game and position and not taking risks so teams couldn’t counter attack as often. I get why he did that his first year as we were bleeding goals but he instilled a hesistancy into most of the players and it was frustrating to watch. Slow build ups, very little progressive passing, etc. Today though, they were aggressive and they took some risks and honestly it was pretty encouraging to see that. Unfortunately, even with a new manager the finishing in the final 3rd isn’t going to magically fix itself overnight. Team needs to keep gaining that confidence and keep staying aggressive. Overall, even with a draw, it was an encouraging performance for 70 minutes and then old habits die hard.. dumb mistake leads to a goal.

Quite a few folks across the pond aren’t happy with Boehly and his ideas to change the league. The ‘relegation tourney and all star game’ ideas are getting picked apart. I have to agree with most of them, I don’t want to see either in the EPL.

It’s very arrogant that American owners are the ones that are trying to make these changes.

His idea for an All-Star game is laughable, but it's equally hilarious (and predictable) that Jurgen Klopp opposes it purely on the grounds of fixture congestion.

His relegation tournament idea is somewhat less farfetched, even if I'd rather not see it implemented in England. Germany already have a system where the 16th place Bundesliga team plays the 3rd place team from the lower league for a spot in the following season's Bundesliga. That could easily enough be expanded to include four teams.

Having gone through it with Villa, I wouldn’t want to see the Championship playoffs go away.

I, absolutely love Mitro and his work ethic. With that being said, that goal by Haaland to win Man City that game, maybe only one guy in the world can knock that one in and he did it. Damn Amazing!

In your example, is Mitrovic Tom Brady?

It would never happen. What’s funny, is if you listen to the whole interview that he did at that conference which was a sports financing or something like that conference, the whole thing was brought up simply because the topic of how to fund the English pyramid. His whole point was all star games in the US raise hundreds of millions of dollars and if that same success translated, which we know it wouldn’t, it could literally fund the lower leagues year after year.

The idea wasn’t great, and an all star game isn’t in the cards and I don’t really think players would even be up for it even without the congested schedule, but it’s the thought behind it that he was mostly raising a point to and everyone’s ignoring that for the sound bite. Meanwhile other PL owners are sitting on their hands and not having an open conversation about it.
