Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

Because of the Queens funeral, police thought it was too much to handle in London so they requested it.
That’s what I figured, but was too lazy to comb through the schedules and connect all the dots of what was missing.

Bit of a shame for Arsenal it’s been pushed back. They’re in fantastic form right now.

Nice to see Arsenal hold their spot atop the table for now. City are such a machine that every game feels like a must win for anyone hoping to challenge them. They’ll obviously drop points somewhere along the way, but looking up and down the league it’s just hard to imagine where that’s going to be.

City will win the League, hoping they get at least one loss, but I’m not confident.

COYB. Man U were in Cyprus earlier this week, so hopefully we can catch them tired from a long trip and short rest. Also, have a chance to move ahead of Liverpool.

Didn’t get to watch and haven’t seen the full highlights yet but nice work Arsenal. Really playing well so far this year.

The only highlight I did see though was the penalty at 2-2. I do think by the rule it is a penalty but this is the type of rule I’d like to see modified. Both players are kicking at the ball in the air, neither have possession, but because Gabriel gets there a half second sooner and his foot is in front it’s a pen. Just doesn’t feel like a worthy penalty in any game in my opinion.

Graham Potter with a nice influence so far. Hasn’t lost yet. 4 wins, 1 draw. Two big wins against AC Milan to get to the top of Group E.

The fella is a solid coach. Should be in line for the National team soon.

National team (even England which may be THE most high prestigious international job) is a step down from an elite club job like Chelsea, IMO. Can't recall any managers switching gears to manage a national team when they were killing it at a club.

Apparently Boehly, who really wanted Potter to be the manager at Chelsea after clashing a bit with Tuchel, knew the FA was wanting to target Potter for the England job after the World Cup so that’s one of the reasons he acted when he did on Tuchel. Idk what Potters aspirations are, maybe he’s quite interested in the England job, but he’s got a 5 year deal with Chelsea and an owner that is prepared to give him time and money to build a team.

Seeing some buzz around Mbappe to Liverpool now that he's apparently unhappy with PSG again. Tempering my expectations but that would certainly turn around a sour season thus far...

Not sure where else he'd realistically be able to go in a January transfer window other than Madrid, and they seem to be set with their squad.
