Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

I’m not even sure Everton should appeal it, especially if the ruling isn’t going to come this season. I’d rather be deducted 10 points this year than 5 next. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see a collection of 3-4 more inept teams at the bottom of the table again.
It will play out similar to Juve except Juve's dealings were far more sinister.

Absolute joke. Higher points deduction than clubs get for going into administration. Meanwhile City incur no penalties at all after 100+ infractions.

Whatever. If there was ever an opportune season to be docked 10 points, this is the one. The bottom of the league is beyond awful. Still think we survive this. Even with the deduction we’re currently only two points from safety. But…so much for the brief hope that we’d be having a comfortably mid-table season.

Report I listen to today said there may be 9 more points coming off. I don't have a dog in this fight but I will point out that Everton got the benefit of overspending last year and it saved them from going down. Every fan of Leicester, Leeds and Southhampton has justifiable beef with Everton administrators. Everton should be forced to compensate the three that went down for every cent they lost plus interest and if they can't/won't pay, they should be liquidated just like Rangers were a decade ago.

So the PL have laid down a marker. A 1 point deduction for every £2M overspend. By those criteria, I look forward to City and Chelsea opening next season playing Sunday league in some muddy local park, lol.
I sympathize but it's apples and oranges. Everton overspent. It's a clear cut violation that they admitted to. The final league table will tell whether the punishment was excessive. City is accused of something far worse, basically fraud from what I understand and they are not admitting anything...actually, they are fighting it. If City is eventually found to have lied about payments to players, EPL will have to make a hard decision based on what financial effect it will have to the entire league if they drop the hammer on City. I think City could wind up with a billion dollar fine and none of the other 19 clubs will complain about getting a share of that and keeping Haaland, KDB, Foden, Grealish, etc. in the league.

Overspend was on stadium construction, not the squad. It played no part in keeping Everton in the PL.

I guess it's one of those things where no good deed goes unpunished. Everton worked with the PL and their creditors and ended up getting docked 10 points. Could have just skipped out on their bills entirely, gone into administration and only gotten docked 9.

To any of the City fans - is it true that Chris Kavanagh grew up around the corner from the Ethiad, used to have a season ticket to City and his brother still does? If so he is reffing LFC/City and you cannot make this up.

This will also mark LFC’s 14th 12:30 kickoff after an international break. The next highest teams are Tottenham and Chelsea with 6.

Of course the greatest league in the world fails to ban associated party loan signings

Clubs who voted against: Manchester City, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Everton & Wolves.

So you’re telling me the clubs that can take advantage of the system want to keep it in place? I’m shocked. Shocked I tell you.

bummed about Taiwo being out. Seeing a couple of transfer rumors for someone to fill the hole, possibly from Bundesliga or MLS. There are some matches between now and Boxing Day that Forest needs to take points from.

Are you blaming the officials already? No offense, but LFC fans complaining about officiating is as rich as it gets.

Such an easy route to deflect, but no I’m not. I’m just simply not going to bend over and take it. But if true it’s like the time vols played lsu in basketball vs the ref who was a lsu fan. It’s not rocket science to identify and prevent such things from occurring (again if it is even true).

Let's just watch the game first and after you can cast aspersions. Every other fanbase on here has been insulted by the Red whistles and extended time added vs LFC over the years. Only another LFC fan could possibly identify with you right now.

It’s not the point. If true, it should not be allowed to happen in the greatest league in the world. That holds true if Kavanagh was a big LFC homer. So let’s just sit back, watch the inevitable happen and then question how it occurred?

And red whistles? That’s precisely why LFC received more straight red cards in a span of like 8 games than they had in several years combined previously. It must be why the Diaz goal stood vs Tottenham too.

As far as I know these things are always taken I to account. Like it says, just because someone is from the vicinity of one a PL side doesn’t necessarily mean they support them. Mike Dean is from Liverpool area, but reffed games for both Everton and Liverpool because an avid supporter of Tranmere. There are so many lower league teams in and around the Manchester area that Kavanagh could possibly support.

Guess the Hyde version of this Jekyll and Hyde Chelsea team showed up today. Even Silva getting in on a youthful rookie mistake.

I don’t watch the match. But I heard where Nagelsmann had playing as a left back for the German National team in their last match?!?! It didn’t go well it sounded like. What position was he on the pitch for this one?

He came in for Martinelli(Forward) in the last 10 minutes of the match.
