I do hate when a whole team runs at the ref to complain but idk about this idea. Giving refs, who can barely get red card/yellow cards right, the ability to send a player off for 10 minutes? No bueno. Similar to refs being able to give a yellow card to a player that motions for a card as he’s complaining that we’ve seen this year, but even something as cut and dry as that has been inconsistent. I’d bet this proposed rule would be just as inconsistently called.

Edit: apparently can also happen for other offenses too like a tactical offense of fouling a guy who is about to break on a counter for instance.
I laughed out loud at the Dest comment. In American high school soccer, the player must leave the field for 10 minutes on a yellow card. The coach however can sub for them and bring them back on after the 10 minutes. It's considered a cooldown and prevents players from totally losing their cool. I kind of like it.
In this case, the team could be severely handcuffed during a period of play where they are down a man. It would also be subjectively given. Just create another card like a blue card. Second blue is a yellow. Guys might whine once but then catch themselves before the second instance. Unless your Sergino Dest, then you just get three blue cards and get sent off in 2 minutes.

If it was used like the your first paragraph, I maybe could get behind it. I think making the team down a man for 10 minutes probably has the fastest correction of the issue at hand, but also will cause the most dissent. I played rugby in college, and rugby already has the sin bin. It was tough to get sent off and watch the other team gain momentum for 10 minutes. Certainly made me think twice on some things after being sent to the bin a couple times. So yeah, it might help.. but I don’t trust referees to make the right choices utilizing it.In American high school soccer, the player must leave the field for 10 minutes on a yellow card. Still haven’t qualified for the knockout rounds yet. A win today would seal at least advancement though. A win and a PSV loss would seal 1st out of the group.. which is huge. Don’t want to be drawn to play a group winner next round.I’m surprised that Arsenal is playing their strongest line up.
