Crazy. Two minutes after Chelsea should be down to 9 men, they get awarded a questionable penalty and lead 3-1.
Caicedo avoiding second yellow just a few minutes before this play.View attachment 599565
Wish I could find a GIF of just this moment right here: First, when Milner comes in with his right foot he clips Mudryks back leg. Second, this moment started with Milner putting his forearm into Mudryks shoulder, turning him a bit, and then the arm shot outward to push him. Ref was on the left and couldn’t see the extension in real time. VAR though could see it and wanted to see if that motion changed the refs decision. The ref thought so once he saw the angle. If Milner doesn’t extend his arm to push, it might have stood as a no call. I don’t think that pen gets called 10 out of 10 times, but it’s more than 50/50. That’s a pen majority of the time.
Not sure what 9 man incident you are talking about though, maybe I missed it. Who were you referring to?
Weren’t you the one making fun of a Liverpool fan for blaming the refs all the time just last week on here? lolLooks like for the second week in a row City get done by an official at their house. Last weeks flop by Allison that cost us a goal and then this. The ref is playing advantage. When he sees Grealish going 1-1 with keeper he blows his whistle to bring it back. Costs city 2 more points.

Whistle blew before the pass. It was a bad call but those happen every game in this sport. Usually multiple times per game.Looks like for the second week in a row City get done by an official at their house. Last weeks flop by Allison that cost us a goal and then this. The whistle absolutely did not blow before the pass. You can see in the picture that’s not even in his mouth. The whistle blew when Grealish was running away from the defender. But I will agree that Spurs were better in the second half.Whistle blew before the pass. It was a bad call but those happen every game in this sport. Usually multiple times per game.
City blew most of their chances in the 1st half. They should have been up 3 or 4 to 1 at halftime.
However, in the second half, Spurs were the better side by a considerable margin. If Bissouma doesn’t gift City their 3rd goal, they might not have walked away with anything. A draw was more than a fair result. Tottenham didn’t get lucky in this game.
I heard the whistle blow real time when I was watching the match. Don’t know what else to tell you on that. It was early enough that Grealish backed off and stopped before he got anywhere near Vicario. If it wasn’t before the pass, it was when the ball was in the air.The whistle absolutely did not blow before the pass. You can see in the picture that’s not even in his mouth. I understand your point that it’s not necessarily going to be a goal, but the whistle did not blow until Grealish was passed all your defenders.I heard the whistle blow real time when I was watching the match. No guarantee he scores either. Vicario is a solid keeper and Grealish had 3 Spurs players one step behind him. Grealish is decent but he’s not City’s best winger. He wouldn’t even be Tottenham’s best winger. I would take Son and Kulu over him any day.
I just get a little irritated with all the whining and complaining about refereeing from some fanbases. It’s fairly annoying when your injury riddled team puts on a brilliant display in the second half and outplays probably the best team in the world in their stadium for 45 minutes to earn a point and then some opposing fan says the ref blowing a play dead changed the outcome of the game. You have no idea what would have happened had that play been allowed to continue. Grealish could’ve scuffed it over the bar or Vicario could have blocked it. We just don’t know and that’s the point. The referee didn’t cost City anything. He just ruined a promising situation which, like I said previously, happens ALMOST EVERY GAME. You will never remove error from sports for the same reason you will never know whether or not Jack Grealish would have scored on that breakaway. We cannot predict the future. That’s just our situation as humans. Just make peace with it and enjoy the games. I’m sure City will finish higher in the table than Tottenham this year if it makes you feel better.
To be fair, Grealish had our defenders beat before the ball was even played. It’s a miracle we only gave up 3 with 4 fullbacks back there.I understand your point that it’s not necessarily going to be a goal, but the whistle did not blow until Grealish was passed all your defenders.
And I concede it was a fair result. Just like Liverpool. It’s fun watching these types of games. Just hate it when I played three of these games back to back to back.To be fair, Grealish had our defenders beat before the ball was even played. But yes, I will definitely concede that a quick whistle ruined a very promising chance for City.
It was an entertaining game. Whenever we play City, there always seem to be fireworks. And I concede it was a fair result. Just like Liverpool. It’s fun watching these types of games. Just hate it when I played three of these games back to back to back.
City Spurs 2nd leg of UCL in ‘19 was insane. It was an entertaining game. Whenever we play City, there always seem to be fireworks.
But I understand. It’s a frustrating sport sometimes. A lot of it turns on luck and bounces which is why effort and belief are so important (and why I was proud of Tottenham today). If Tottenham hadn’t earned a point today, it would’ve been the first time we had lost 4 consecutive league matches since 2004. So we’re right there with you in the midst of a dry spell for points. Here’s hoping we can right the ship and prevent all these red teams from winning anything haha.
