I don’t know about him being a coke head or crooked, but he is without a doubt and impetuous idiot.

He was too dumb to understand or too proud to stomach a public facing event that was meant to draw all parties to the negotiating table to resolve the conflict that is killing boatloads of his citizens.

He went rouge and undermined the entire effort. He knew what he was supposed to be there for. If he didn’t want to play ball he shouldn’t have insisted on a public event in Washington to play games. It was an insult to the efforts being made trying to end the conflict.

Supreme stupidity. Trying to couch his behavior as some heroic effort to save his country is a huge whiff.

What’s not even in question was Zelensky pushed to come to Washington to sign the agreement. He knew this was the first step for the US to broker a peace agreement.

If he didn’t want that, he shouldn’t have come. Showing up, torpedoing the deal, and then trying to sell his side in front of the cameras was a terrible idea. It’s counterproductive…unless the real objective is not a peace agreement. This is very simple. Diplomacy doesn’t work like that.

It seems people like you are happy enough about it to show your Ukraine virtue and push your TrumPutin narrative. But at the end of the day, they moved further away from a peace agreement, not closer to one.

Remember Trump probably doesn’t want the same thing you do. You’d probably be happy to keep shoveling US resources at the war. Trump appears to want the war brought to an end.

Ok - so Zelensky was not happy with the proposed agreement. Then why insist on coming to Washington to sign it?

Don’t come to Washington to make the Zelensky show, talking over the head of the only people working toward a true peace agreement.

As we learned with Biden and now with Zelensky you can't negotiate from a position of weakness/need..your either accept or not...he didnt accept and tried to appeal to public opinion and it backfired. When you want something from someone who needs nothing from you, then you have no position to negotiate..

Reading the reports that had led up to this, and then watching that circus unfold, it looked pretty plain that Z just wanted his shot to play politics in front of the American and World audience, and the admin would have none of it.

I suspect there is a faction that put Z up to that, thinking that the anti-Trump media could and would use it to pressure the administration. But if that's the case they didn't figure that (a) Trump isn't cowed by the media, and (2) his approval ratings are high and the American public overall doesn't trust the media.

...and I believe the American public overall doesn't support the continued funding of Ukraine either.

If I’m a Ukrainian, I’d be very disappointed that he kept trying to interrupt and talk over the leaders of another country that has been giving us $billions to fight this war and we were hoping to continue receiving their support. I’d want Zelensky to be nothing but gracious and thanking the US for their past and future support. Nothing is stopping Trump from cutting off all assistance to Ukraine.
