So, you quote a progressive organization that doesn't even understand the definition of words. There is a reason they use "provide" in reference to defense and "promote" in reference to general welfare. They are not the same. The national Constitution addresses economic and social rights prominently but with little specificity. The Preamble states that an overriding purpose of the U.S. Constitution is to “promote the general welfare,” indicating that issues such as poverty, housing, food and other economic and social welfare issues facing the citizenry were of central concern to the framers.

I understand that your greatest fear is a free thinker. So, you quote a progressive organization that doesn't even understand the definition of words. There is a reason they use "provide" in reference to defense and "promote" in reference to general welfare. They are not the same.
There is no place in any part of the Constitution that states we should take from the rich and give to the poor.
It scares the hell out of me that you were around kids for years and probably passed your ignorance on to them. God help those kids.
Have another go.......... Go ahead, read the whole thing.....give your thinking a little long overdue freedom. So, you quote a progressive organization that doesn't even understand the definition of words. I applaud you for actually trying to back up your asinine statement, but this article does not help your cause.Have another go.......... Go ahead, read the whole thing.....give your thinking a little long overdue freedom.
A reasonable reading of the U.S. Constitution’s preamble identifies how “general welfare” differs qualitatively from its meaning in a state constitution.![]()

To state the obvious, promoting “general welfare” means promoting “national” welfare. This contrasts not only with promoting an individual’s or faction’s welfare, but contrasts with promoting particular regional, state, or local welfare.

I will make it easy for you. What is the definition of provide? What is the definition of promote? Please give an example of each and how they supposedly mean the same thing.
If we are going to be honest with ourselves, I don't know if Rs leaders or even as a party of political whores were ever economically literate. Never saw many sharing Walter E Williams, or Thomas Sowell concepts.
