Joe Biden told a restaurateur to simply pay staff more at a town hall on Wednesday night when asked how his administration planned to get people back to work after increasing unemployment benefits by so much that business owners now say they can't compete.

Lanni, who says he already pays staff $15-an-hour, said: 'The entire industry, amongst other industries, continues to struggle to find employees. How do you and the Biden administration plan to incentivize those that haven't returned to work yet? Hiring is our top priority right now.'

In response, Biden seemed to wipe his hands of the issue, claiming the shortage wasn't down to increased benefits but people no longer wanting to work in restaurants.

Hard to compete for workers when .gov is paying them better not to work. No income to pay taxes on, no mortgage or rent payments (deferred and impending doom or whatever), unemployment, and stimulating free money every now and then - that's hard to beat.

With people without high school diplomas expecting $20 per hour now, how much longer before we professionals with degrees and decades of experience start demanding equivalent bumps in pay? I am ready. I should be approaching 100 per hour now if life is “fair”
