Mandates are wrong!?!?
How many of our laws would have to be struck down because they mandate certain action?
The freedumb crowd is getting insufferable
Finally you've stumbled and fell into a conversation that is worth having. There are, what, over 20,000 laws (local, state, federal) which are on the books currently? At what point will we acknowledge the laws are written for the benefit of judicial administration rather than making society better or safer? Freedom is typically insufferable for those who seek to limit freedom.

The nature of law is also to go too far. King George was within his legal authority to tax us. Businesses could deny service to AA under the various Jim Crowe laws. The current laws considered too restrictive on voting are legal.Nearly every law is going to constrain someone's freedom. That's the nature of law.
No worries if you don't wanna have a chat about it. Grandiose reform is constantly lauded in industry, finance, healthcare, education, etc. I see no reason why law is untouchable even if you deem it sacrosanct. It's been all down hill since we left the Hobbesian state of nature, where life was solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short. Ah, the halcyon days of yore.
It is also necessary to distinguish between laws duly passed by our representatives, reviewed by SCOTUS, and codified and mandates decreed by a person who wishes to rule over me unconstitutionally. Even when done constitutionally, many laws are over reaching and inhibitory to free people in a free society.Nearly every law is going to constrain someone's freedom. That's the nature of law.

Regarding your reply: To pretend days of yore were all good or all bad is silly. Likewise, pretending today is all good or bad is as well. There are aspects of yesteryear where it would be wise to emulate just as there are aspects of today which are better.
Of fhe 20,000+ (if accurate) laws, how many are unnecessary?Of course there are unnecessary laws. But people too often see laws as purely limiting and impediments to freedom. But it is often the complete opposite. Laws are also empowering and facilitating in that they set norms that allow people to take action based on those norms knowing what the likely results will be.
