JFK learned a valuable lesson after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. Let's hope Biden learns the same lesson after the Afghanistan pull-out fiasco.

While many JFK fans (along with Oliver Stone) like to believe he was pulling out of Vietnam by '65, most historical evidence doesn't agree with this. In fact, the last thing any politician wanted to be called during the '60's was "soft on communism" and keeping (and increasing forces) in Vietnam was the likely outcome.

The Soviets caught Kennedy with his pants down when they started putting missiles in Cuba, Kennedy's response almost started WWII and to end the crisis he gave up the Jupiter Missiles in Turkey and still allowed Soviet ballistic subs to visit Cuba. Loss for JFK.

Kennedy had every opportunity to cancel the bay of pigs invasion, they knew the Cubans knew when and where it was coming yet he still gave it the green light. Then we ended up giving Castro something like $50 million dollars in supplies as ransom to get the captured fighters out.

Kennedy should have pulled our advisors out of Vietnam and never signed the Laos treaty.

Face it, Kennedy was a walking foreign policy disaster.
