Props to Butch

I don't want to diminish Butch's accomplishments to date but there are plenty of great hires that would have done the same. Good for Butch though on getting recruiting on the right path early on.

You say this with certainty, but the truth is that it is an unknown. I am not sure others would have embraced UT from former players through tradition in quite the same way Jones has. Ah how easy it is to forget: a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.

2014 recruiting class looks to be a big improvement over 2013. I would expect to see the Vols compete in the SEC by 2015-2016. We are looking to close the talent gap we have had for the last few years and show the fans there is hope for the future.

always bitter.

About almost everything. Even his post says it won't mean jack if we don't win 7. That's wrong as well. It means plenty for rising back up.

I say it won't mean anything because if Butch pulls a Dooley, this class will scatter like roaches. (I am actually not a bitter person at all --only in regards to UT football and Dooley worshipers for the last year and a half.)

Everyone has recruited well at Tennessee.

Haven't seen a top 5 class in a while. Don't get me wrong an elite recruit does not equal a succesful season I get that. And I am curious to see whether Jones maintains the intensity. Will be a challenge. Will have to hit a stride sometime this season to succeed. Get on board. Sour grapes cause Hart didn't pick your guy gets old.

CBJ was just what UT needed. Thanks Mr. Hart for seeing what a lot of fans couldn't see.

I don't think Hart had any great vision in hiring Jones, it was his 3rd or 4th choice and Jones was the only coach who wanted the job at UT.....Jones more or less fell into his lap

If Jones continues to recruit like this (and I believe he will), then it is only a matter of time before the Big Orange is dominant once again.

I've been very bitter about his hire, but he is starting to do what Tennessee coaches are supposed to do: put together a monster class. It won't mean a thing if we can't win 7 games this fall, but I am willing to suspend disbelief for awhile. Dillon Bates, Dominique Booth, Josh Malone, come on down. Well done Butch Jones! GBO!

Backhanded if I've ever read anything that was.... and I have. I guess this is a big step for you? But help me with some logic here, would you please? So, TKJr, Hurd, Creamer, Wharton and Coleman won't be on the the team this year/in the fall correct? And you're giving props to Butch cause he landed them, right? So, why in the hell does none of this matter if UT's team, which doesn't include these players yet, doesn't win 7 games this year? That's highly illogical IMHO.

But at least you actually wrote well done butch so maybe we're making some progress here.

My goodness, the Vol fanbase is starving after the last 7-8 years....fans are embarressed and pissed that the university let Tennessee football fall to the bottom of the SEC.....and rightfully so!

You cannot preach family and then throw family under the bus. Dooley did that exact thing. Hunter even called him on it on twitter after Dooley trashed him to the media.

Perhaps you and all the others who say we have to win to to keep these kids are right. I dunno for sure. But I think if mo stays on our side and we get more early top-notch recruits, they will lock arms on Twitter and Facebook and on visits and start to believe they are the class that can lead us back. That could be strong, too.

Well, you just did. If you didn't want to diminish what's done you wouldn't have written this. Names of the great hires to which you refer?

Keep it up Butch !!!

I know I'm one of the most negative posters, but at the moment, there is nothing but positive things happening in this program. What a welcome change !!!

Butch has done far far more in 3 months with this program than Doofus did in 3 whole years. While at first it looked like hiring Butch was just having to settle for whatever we could get, now its looking like we may have gotten the cream of the crop !!!

There's still a long long way to go, but at least we finally appear to be on the right track.

Thanks for giving us some much needed hope Coach Jones !!! :yahoo:

Zook had never been a HC before he became HC at UF. We have more of a history of success as a HC with Jones to make some early assumptions. And yes, I know that 'ass' is in assumption.

The one thing I've noticed pretty much every recruit said stands out to them over other universities is the "family atmosphere" with the coaching staff. They all feel comfortable and more than just a single recruit when they're here.

I think that's real special and overlooked. You're spending the next few years of your life here after all!
