Keep it up Butch !!!

I know I'm one of the most negative posters, but at the moment, there is nothing but positive things happening in this program. What a welcome change !!!

Butch has done far far more in 3 months with this program than Doofus did in 3 whole years. While at first it looked like hiring Butch was just having to settle for whatever we could get, now its looking like we may have gotten the cream of the crop !!!

There's still a long long way to go, but at least we finally appear to be on the right track.

Thanks for giving us some much needed hope Coach Jones !!! :yahoo:

Can we all have an Amen brother!!!

Well, you just did. If you didn't want to diminish what's done you wouldn't have written this. Names of the great hires to which you refer?

I am VERY VERY happy with the way things have unfolded since the arrival of CBJ. He has done pretty everything you can think of to restore energy and excitement to the program. Further, he seems to be walking the walk as well in terms of recruiting.

But, I think the point was that he isn't the only one who would have been capable of such an effort. I'm not suggesting I'd trade him for another at this point, but if, for example, Strong would have taken the job, I believe we'd also have some stoked fans. He may have gone about it in a different way, but he's have lit the fire as well. As would several other guys.

That's the point. Hard to envision anyone embracing the opportunity in Knoxville like Jones has. Its unique and appropriate to the uniqueness of the Hill.

he is even treating past coaches and players as family also. I think we have a good thing going...

When CBJ introduces his young family to a recruit...or when he brings his wife and kids around the players at certain events, he is showing a different side of himself to them. He is allowing them to see that he can be tough but loving at the same time. It's more than just picnics and catch. It's a psychological impression and a tangible example of the atmosphere that he wants to create on the team. Brilliant.

Backhanded if I've ever read anything that was.... and I have. I guess this is a big step for you? But help me with some logic here, would you please? So, TKJr, Hurd, Creamer, Wharton and Coleman won't be on the the team this year/in the fall correct? And you're giving props to Butch cause he landed them, right? So, why in the hell does none of this matter if UT's team, which doesn't include these players yet, doesn't win 7 games this year? That's highly illogical IMHO.

But at least you actually wrote well done butch so maybe we're making some progress here.

See post 19. I am not trying to be backhanded at all. The thread is about an extreme negaVol --me--ever so slightly buying into Butch.

After watching practice video from Tuesday, I knew that bUTch and his staff understood things more than anyone had hoped. I was like everyone cautious at first, but liked him more and more every day. Butch at practice you can tell flies around and doesn't just oversee, HE COACHES. The position coaches are constantly teaching, even the small stuff but aren't just doing it in a passive way. Everyone was worried about recruiting, well no need to worry anymore with 4 big time commits in less than a week. We locked down two top 60 players at positions of need this early don't discount that, all three are gonna recruit. TK and Vic already have (Hurd). In short I'm finally F$#%^# excited. BUTCH Please.

The Legion of the Miserables sure as hell don't help recruiting or the program.

People who can't stomach the notion that a recruit doesn't think UT is as awesome as they do like to blame message board negativity for it, and I think that's just nonsense. You're right in the sense that it doesn't help anything, but it doesn't damage a program either. It is what it is - people's opinions.

Give fans something that's worthy of being positive and you will get rid of the miserable and negative posts.

It's coaches and university administrators that lead the program, not fans. Fans just follow the program and are a reflection of how the program is doing.

I getcha, not questioning your fandom AT ALL. But anything other than what JUST happened with bUTch pulling TK2, Creamer and Hurd is just speculation. Who knows what another other would be coach like Strong would have done? Strongs last class was rated in the 50s coming off a beat down of Florida in their bowl game.

All I care about is what our coach just did, has done, that's it. I think speculating on what other hires would've done is unnecessary. He, his staff, the current and former players and his '14 recruits are all giving us great reason to believe and praise his work. What do you say we just sit back and enjoy?

I'll jump on the bandwagon if we beat one of the following: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, SCjr.

Alright. That's your deal. I got my first class ticket. Don't need them to beat any of those guys to believe in what's going on in Knoxville right now. You either want to see it or you don't. Guess we'll have to save you a seat chief. Me, I'm in on the ground floor.

And those miserable opinions do have some bearing on what people think of the university. Is it the deciding factor? No, but it sure as hell doesn't help.
