Pruitt’s signing class grade

Either trolling or just really dumb. Early signing is a 72 hour period...3 days...this is the 1st day...and basically have until February and actually beyond....

It's nowhere close to being done. Actually it's just starting....

65-75% of the top 20 team classes will be filled by today or close to it, 75-85% by Friday. Mostly what will remain are the higher kids who can sign with multiple teams in February or middle of the road kids who are hoping the higher targets don't pick the school they want so a spot is available. Generally speaking.

This could work in favor of a few schools, but today was more or less signing day.

After picking up Wood-Anderson, I would say B. I'll move to A- if we get Allen to end the day.

You do realize this is just the first day of the EARLY signing period. Class isn't done until after the final on in February. You also understand that it is the dead period and coaches cannot actively recruit at the moment, right? Give it a rest.

I am confused as well about what the expectations for whatever coach we might have acquired, other than CJP, could have possibly done better in two weeks after the dumpster fire that was left thanks to the administrative group and former regime.

Considering the issues. B+, the Mays issue was a shame, I don't believe there was enough reason to him to sign with UGA..........just disappointing.

Born Vol........Stay Vol! never will be a VFL........home you don't regret it, when UT stomps a mud hole in UGA next year.

He is getting to work with Pittman. I hate losing him, but taking off the orange colored glasses? If I knew the kid and he was asking my advice on it? I couldn't argue with his choice, except for the fact I hate Georgia. Worse than Bama and Florida put together. But from what he has seen from Tennessee during the past 2 years? I can't argue with it.

If Tennessee is gonna stomp mudholes in anybody next year, they better get some bigger boots.

Considering the position he was in, I'd give him a B on the early signing period. Not great, not terrible, decent. He came in on the front end of the dead period. Not much he could do. If he gets this class into the top 20 by the 2nd NSD, which I believe he will, that's a solid A.

I agree. Fuller and Coach Pruitt came on board with their hands cuffed behind their backs due to the shenanigans of Currie and Haslam after the firing of Jones. They should have been searching for a coach, but were on vacation in the Bahamas during the BB games. Of course that is because Haslam and Currie halliard had their man, Greg Schiano, picked out. They should have known that the UT fan base would have stood on their heads for trying to hire the guy, but yet they tried anyway.

Although Pruitt was on their "list" they apparently never approached him, but jetted all across the country spending millions on the coach search, and offering millions in a losing effort... all the while making The University of Tennessee football program the laughingstock of the NCAA. When Currie was finally suspended from his duties and Fulmer was hired as AD, he quickly hired Pruitt as HC, but the damage had been done.

Jones reportedly told players to stay away from UT. Opponent teams' recruiters were having a field day with getting our commits to decommit. Recruits who had been considering UT had begun looking elsewhere. Jones' old staff were unsure of their jobs and were possibly not recruiting as seriously as they should have been... and with all the turmoil, they could almost not be blamed. So, Pruitt was hired and had to put together a staff in a hurry... and some of that new staff have to finish out the bowl season with their old teams... just like Pruitt does. Therefore, our recruiting is naturally going to not be as good as it could have been during this early signing season.

However, after the CFP, our staff will be here and will be working overtime. So, I expect that they will garner a pretty respectable class... considering the mess they have all been hired fix. Let's be patient and wait until NSD to give them "grades." And don't forget what really good coaches like Pinckel and Odom have done with just ** and *** talent at MIZZOU, and they did't have the staff Pruitt and Fulmer are putting together here. So, fellow Volunteer fans, let's not lose hope just yet... we have a season of football to play in 2018 before we give up on them.

Go VOLS ! ! !

Hm. I doubt LSU has a top 7 class even if they sign 2 5-stars and 3 more 4-stars, which they believe they have good shots at. I'm not sure how you get your numbers but there isn't going to be that many guys left after Friday. .

**EDIT**
(4*) TE Dominick Wood-Anderson (Spring Valley, CA) #1 JUCO TE Committed to Tennessee while I was typing all this up!

(4*) JUCO DE Jordan Allen is expected to sign with us tonight based on most speculation
(4*) WR Alontae Taylor Will sign Friday.

I think there is also a couple of (4*) JUCOs that we are still after as well.

Guys Tennessee is still after that will sign in February.

(5*) DB Isaac Taylor-Stuart (San Diego, CA) #2 Overall CB in the Country!

(5*) DB Olaijah Griffin (Mission Viejo, CA) #5 Overall CB in the Country!

(4*) WR Jacob Copeland (Pensacola, FL)

(4*) LB Quay Walker (Cordele, GA) Bama Commit recruited by CJP at Bama & Sherrer for Georgia.

(4*) LB JJ Peterson (Moultrie, GA) - One of the top OLB is the country. CJP was lead recruiter for Peterson at Bama, Sherrer for Georgia.

I also expect some new high profile names to pop up after the Dead Period is over with guys committed else where or who hasn't been looking at Tennessee. Just as we saw over the last 10-12 days.

I give it a C. Kind of just meh. I know he had to salvage it but I’m not so sure he is all in yet since he is still worried about playoffs coming up. This elite recruiting staff not looking so elite

And I give you a D- for not waiting until February when it's over. As a fan you're just meh.

I have my doubts even if you got those guys UT might not make into the top 10, you'll probably have to run it through the calculator.

My guess just looking at it, if UT can sign 25, they would have to average 4+ start per player to have a shot at top 10 at this stage. I am not even sure LSU gets there and they already have 5 more 4-stars. I wouldn't focus in on stars anyhow, but it can be used as a rough gauge.

If he can pull a top 10 class than the guy needs a raise but 75-85% the teams will be full by Friday... it will be interesting to see how this shake things out in when February comes. There could be some players scrambling and some schools could benefit.

Good grief, dude. You do realize that national signing day isn't until Wednesday, February 7, right? Players will be flipping right up until the last day. We will be fine.

Signing was more or less today. Not sure about this flip and flopping, 65-75% of the team classes will be set by the end of the day.

They got some players. Says something. I'm not so concerned with whether this staff can recruit. I'm more concerned with how they're going to outrecuit Bama, UGA and UF going forward. We are moving to simplified football schemes which means that the jimmys and joes are going to be all the more important. Next year we will literally be trying to win a gunfight with a dull knife. The following year we may have a single shot, then a double barrel, etc. If we can begin matching UF, UGA and Bama in recruiting starting with the 2019 class, we should be competitive by 2023 if our staff develops the talent and manages gameday properly. Think about that. 2023 before we really even have a shot at relevance again.

Take Florida out of the mix. Mullen is no recruiting superstar. They’ll get what Florida nets on its own merits, but no boost from the HC. Same would have held true if they landed Kelly
