Pruitt on Banks at linebacker: 'I think he could play this week.'

I thought after the gauntlet that we would spring banks on the gamecocks and just beat them down all night with banks power running. I was way off or this is quite the smoke screen

Maybe we can also get Jennings to channel his inner "Carl Perkins" and play some lockdown CB as well!

Paul Bain at RT too!

I think it's silly to think any kid can learn a position in one week and compete at high level in the SEC. Especially a position that requires split second thought and reaction. Offenses would feast on him. Having said that, my great hope for Banks this season would be somewhat limiting Snell when Kentucky rolls into town. Love the move, though.

Without knowing the D call and what his key was I hate to rag on him but on the first short yardage TD run by Bama the back side tackle pulled and came all the way around to the hole over the play side guard and beat Kirkland to the hole and essentially drove him 4 yards deep in the end zone. The MLB has to recognize that play and hit the hole hard and beat the pulling OL to the spot especially in a goal line short yardage play. When CJP says their defensive calls are simple he most likely means as a player you have a gap to fill and a lane to maintain against the run. As a LB the pass defense calls could be a bit more complicated but if Banks plays MLB he most likely just has a zone a few yards off the LOS and he is suppose to basically clobber anyone running through there. Our LB's aren't getting fooled they're just getting beaten to the ball. To win those battles you need athleticism and desire, Banks has both. JMHO

Tell that to Pruitt

LOL its not that simple...one "first step" in the wrong direction and the runner is already gone...lets see Pruitt started out talking about "playing with confidence" meaning it takes awhile to learn what your responsibilities are at the position...and now this

I would love for banks to step in and be the next al wilson or tyrone hines but like awaitingawin says "its not that simple." One step in the wrong direction, one wrong read and touchdown! for the bad guys.

Pruitt is the coach and knows alot more about the game than I do but it sounds desperate at best. I hope it works but sure seems like a reach in one week of practice.

Who's to say he hasn't been playing some lb during practice all season? This is only the one the media got to see him in

I can see him making a lot of plays and also busting coverages on TE's or RB's out of the backfield. That being said, his motor is so good that the good might be better than the bad.

Well this will be interesting. Probably make Jumper look like Ray Nitscke.
I believe Banks has abilities that Jumper could only dream about, but if you're referring to knowledge then I agree. If he is used by Pruitt it will be as an unguided missile, light it and stand aside.

Jeremy's loving contact, hitting, and,as described earlier this year "leadership"as a freshman, sounds a bit like one Al Wilson. Not to put too much on this young man, but,he is too good a player to notbe able to see the field because of fumbling tendencies. If you fumble, you 'll not see the field as a running back.Go get em,Jeremy!
