Pruitt Should Apologize to Fans, the Team & Re-evaluate if He Still Wants to Be Coach

Yeah your priorities seem to consist of b!tiching and whining about things you have no control over. That's a miserable life.

Telling people to go root for another team bc you don’t agree with them is pretty *****y and whiney

Good Lord......I love being back on this site to read/listen to all this!

I really don't have anything relevant to add to the thread, I just wanted to reiterate that this is one of the dumbest posts I have ever seen. Just go cheer for Georgia already. There's a difference between having an opinion and being an irrational child.

I’m not going to read through all the posts in this thread but just posted this in another thread and thought I’d copy it here.

I’m disappointed by yesterday, but I think some are overreacting a bit. Jmo.

This class is ranked #20 on rivals.

Butch Jones’ first class was ranked #21, and he wasn’t dealing with an 8-loss season, a National laughing stock of a coaching search, a brand new AD, and the first early signing day in history.

Jones’ second class ranked #5.

I mean, Pruitt and this staff are proven recruiters. Is there anyone who doesn’t believe we end up with a better class next year? Speak up now.

Yesterday was the last of CBJ's gifts to the University of Tennessee.

Like so many others CBJ owns money too....(Dobbs, Barnett, Kamara, etc.), CBJ owns Pruitt some money to clean up his mess.

Same. Disappointed here. But some people would still be supporting Dooley and Butch, saying, “give them more time” and “next year will be better” year after year if there weren’t others to say THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

I’m merely pointing out that since the class didn’t turn out as hyped, Pruitt failed in my eyes simply because he didn’t do everything he could for Tennessee. No matter what excuse you make for him, having a sub par class and knowing he was at Alabama for 3+ weeks after agreeing to the job here does not and will not ever look good.

I guess the question is why are you disappointed, considering what this staff was up against.

The blessing is I am assuming that we now have Coaches that can coach vs a coach that ran a program that was scare of negative public opinion that believed he could out talent everybody in the SEC.

Haslam is not gone but less influence. Fulmer is AD.

Defense is the key. CJP is a good catch and a blue collar coach. His staff appears to reflect the same.

Can't be disappointed or elated because next year will reflect who we will become in the years to come.

A good staff will tell us where we are at and where we are headed next season....

So you contend that Pruitt didn't spend 3 weeks working for Alabama in December and January?

If you're interested in a prime real estate deal, I own a bridge in downtown Knoxville, has plenty of traffic and Neyland views.

Your contention was that while he was in AL he did nothing on the phone. My contention is that if you pretend to know that for fact you are full of ****.

Bringing up Dooley and Butch simply because they failed is lazy. By stating people supported those guys too long are you suggesting it’s time to not support Pruitt?

If I had the choice I would of rather had him here in Knoxville instead of coaching for Alabama; I don’t think anyone would argue that. But acting like that’s the sole reason this class didn’t quite live up to the hype is disingenuous.

I’m not even sure what your exact argument is? You believe Pruitt cares more about Alabama than Tennessee? You think he’s a terrible recruiter? I don’t buy either one of those storylines.

Yes, but occupied for multiple hours a day coaching Alabama. I can't imagine he was on the phone with recruits on the practice field, watching film etc etc. I.E not giving his all for Tennessee during an extremely key time of the year. It was a bad look, and his signing day swoon does more to confirm the mistake than to disprove it. After all, one of the main arguments was that somehow recruiting would be boosted by him helping Alabama win a title. Sadly, that didn't happen and Alabama won a championship. So the Vols got 2 bad results and 0 positives from his coaching the Tide during recruiting season.

Our fans are an embarrassment most of the time.

I’m disappointed because I had hoped that we’d pull one or two high profile guys like Walker or Copeland. I bet if you ask Pruitt, he’s a little disappointed too.

I don’t believe the sky is falling, though.

If your kids are on the wrong path, just quit caring, life is too short to get bogged down with that kind of responsibility.

A bit of hyperbole there but this is what you're saying in a nut shell when you and others say "just stop caring" or "go cheer for someone else" as if that is possible for someone who has 40+ years financially and emotionally invested in the place. Without that investment, college football is empty stadiums and it likely doesn't exist.

p.s. if you're somehow happy with UT football, I can only assume we have different priorities regarding the program. You may simply enjoy it as if it were some sort of family reunion and have no investment in actually winning. I don't know. My priorities are different.

You have no financial investment that exists longterm. Period. Donations are donations freely given with no expectation of return. Seat purchases are investments for a given amount of time with no expectation from the team other than the 60 minutes of playing time that you purchased with that ticket price. You are taking a risk with that investment because you have to determine for yourself whether the investment is worth it or not. Season tickets are just that. They are a risky investment (for UT Fans) that buy you 6 or 7 Saturday afternoons of enjoyment with your family or 6 or 7 Saturday's of possible misery. Either way those investments are short term and finite in nature.

The analogy with kids doesn't fly because you have no effect on the team performance and game outcome other than how much money you choose to donate and how many tickets you purchase.

This recruit class took a nosedive. Multiple misses. “Sure things” flipping to other schools on NSD.

HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffs—time that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.

Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitt’s ability to bring in talent.

Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.

****ing clueless...

No excuses for Pruitt however.

He went for it and came up short. He didn't hype it, the fans did when they saw.

3+ weeks at Alabama. You have to admire a man that sticks to his word with his players. Matter of opinion what looks good and what does not.

The previous AD and the coaching search resulted in a month of Negative publicity. Who wants their kid to enter into a dysfunctional environment that was broadcasted across the county for 3+ weeks.

Early Signing period and 0-8 SEC record and 4-8 season was not CJPs fault.

Jones antics and his insecurities finally hit the news media and revealed to the public, and knowing this the AD sat on its hands and did nothing.

This resonates in parents, kids and High School Coaches.
It is a great negative recruiting tool also.

Anybody that deserves the grade for this recruiting class it is Davenport, Haslam, Curry and a majority of the AD department that allowed this to happen prior to CJP's arrival.

At least CJP had the guts to offer and go after Elite Recruits against the odds...Glad he is here.

75% of all 4 and 5 star players had signed before he went back to coach bama. UT likely sprung for unlimited calling on his phone and provided a laptop to watch film. He couldn't be on a field.

If these guys were so busy then how did the other playoff teams manage to do any recruiting during the dead period? Did they simply abandon recruiting during that "extremely key time of the year"?

So that means that if CJP went to Bama and actually recruited while all these other guys took the 3 weeks off he was doing extra work!!! So that was a huge plus for UT.

Unsupportable BS hypothesis. You are making **** up to support an untenable position.
