So Butch initially recruited well but couldn't coach. Today didn't go the way the staff but I'm not ready to shut off the lights and tell everyone to go home. These guys had better know live up to their coaching resumes. If they do, the recruiting next year will be much different than this year.

This recruit class is nosediving. Multiple misses already. “Sure things” flipping to other schools on NSD.

HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffs—time that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.

Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitt’s ability to bring in talent.

Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.

I bet your one of the idiots that just doesn't understand why great coaches don't want to come here. Hint it's because of people like you becoming normal amongst our fan base.

Stupid post-Pruitt staying at Alabama and getting a another National Championship on his resume probably helped us more than hurt us for recruiting. It could have been worse.

Show some proof.

He already had a strong relationship with JJ.

Who did we get because he coaches one more game at Bama?

Its not irrelevant to how the program is perceived. To think that didn't have an impact is ignorant.

Never said it had no impact.

It is completely irrelevant to how he to chose to handle his business. And actually backs my point more, given that Pr disaster, he needed to be the face of the program 24/7 from day 1.

Pruitt's job is to coach up what he has. If he found some "diamonds" in the latter part of his recruiting class then great. But if I were a recruit considering UT, I'd want to see some solid coaching and a season without ridiculous injury rates. Yeah, I know Jones is gone.

He needs to prove he can coach this year and then use that to recruit. Win some games he shouldn't... compete in every game... even the ones where the Vols are overmatched. All of the things Jones consistently failed to do.

There is a reason I keep certain posters on ignore. Don't normally post in a thread started by one, but enough is enough.

In the meantime, Georgia’s signing every damn 5 star in the country and laughing 4 star kids out the door.

Cheaters.

He inherited a better situation than both Fooley and Botch did. And even those two snake oil salesmen pulled in better classes in year 1 (zero) than this guy who decided it was more important to coach our rival team for weeks after he “accepted” the job here.

Jokes on you too Bc he actually MADE you all cheer for Alabama.

Sickening.

4-8 is the worst we have ever done. How is this a better situation? This is the WORST we have ever been. Not to mention we have been crap for longer than these kids have had cognitive ability.

This is the lowest ranked TN recruiting class since 2008, Dooley closed better in less than 3 weeks after the Kiffin debacle than Pruitt has done with over 2 months........Not sure why people think that UT has captured lightening in a bottle with Pruitt, he is an unknown quantity at this time as a head coach and to think he will turn UT around like how Smart did with Georgia is silly.....He will need 3-5 years to be competitive in the East again and he will need much better recruiting classes...so far a lot of fans arent sold on him after UT's lackluster class today...not gonna beat our rivals with 2 and 3 star players and a sprinkling of 4 stars. Georgia has (8) 5 star players at this time and could end up with 10 (which would be the most ever by a team in a recruiting cycle) and (15) 4 stars. How is UT going to compete with that? There is no magic coaching that can transform UT's roster into a competitive team against the likes of Georgias and Alabamas talent......IF there is, please tell us because I would invest in that voodoo magic......

The fact that 19 people liked this post concerns me more than Pruitt. Please go root for MTSU.

This is where I am at as well. They better squeeze every ounce of talent out of every player with the death row schedule we have.

And the Athletic Department was butchering everything it did with the national media covering every bit of it. Hell the damn White House Press even took a stab at UT.

They're doing wonderful things at mental institutions now, I'd love to set up a meet and greet.

Where is your proof that not being on campus during a dead period hurt this class? I didn't like it but it didn't affect recruiting
