I'm not bashing Pruitt and hindsight is always 20/20 but I wonder if he made a strategic mistake by going after so many high profile 5 star kids to the detriment of keeping some of the lower ranked kids that we had committed that wound up going elsewhere. With that being said, Pruitt and company will be judged based on next years class rather than this one. Too little time to really build relationships this year.

Every body loves the 4 and 5 stars and trust me I like it when we sign them too, but they really are just stars. Every kid 2 star or 5 star still has to transition from high school football to college ball and that is the jobs of the coaching staff and how hard the kid works in the wait room. Take a look at Rick Barnes and the basketball team. They are playing pretty dam well and their roster has no 5 stars and maybe 1 or 2 4 stars. Just swept Kentucky who recruits nothing but 5 star guys, I know two different sports but you can't put a star on a kids heart.

Being fine with the class and understanding what the staff was really up against are two completely different things.

It's kinda like how people's season record predictions get bigger as we get closer to the first game. A 6-6 prediction in Feb turns into an outside shot at the playoffs by August. Happens every year
