the uncertainty around Butch absolutely hurt the class. The delay in firing Butch had zero bearing on this class. Regardless who we hired the earliest they could have started was after our last game.
I'm not claiming the complete dysfunction of the admin and AD had no effect but it's not as if Pruitt and his assistants didn't have prior relationships with the majority of these guys. It's something they should have better overcame.
75% of the elite prospects (4 and 5 stars) signed their nli within 2 weeks of him taking the job in Dec. Are you reeeeeeally being realistic?I fully expected such a highly touted recruiting staff to finish in the top 20.
Like I said, Smarts best recruiting job was to get Michel and Chubb and their star LB to stay one more year, that tells me he has the ability to keep players on his roster, plus he understands intimately how Bama keeps all those 4 and 5 star players on the roster and sells them on the big picture, something that he has brought to GA. I cant stand GA and it sucks that they are rolling now and TN is back to square one in another damn rebuild...

Just about any coaching change will hurt a class.
Maybe my expectations of finishing in the top 20 were too high. And I'll admit that him staying at Bama through the playoffs chapped my ass tremendously but I thought we might get a benefit from it. I was wrong about that also.
Oh well, on to the season. I hope he is the man to turn this ship around, coach 'em up Jeremy!
Time will tell; we have to hope for the best, and personally I think Pruitt was a great choice - just no way to prove that yet. Smart and his potentially overloaded team reminds me of a movie line, "Think you used enough dynamite, there, Butch?" - might well blow up in his face.

This recruit class is nosediving. Multiple misses already. Sure things flipping to other schools on NSD.
HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffstime that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.
Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitts ability to bring in talent.
Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.
