I didn't like that he stayed and started it many times in here. I just don't think he's being given a fair shake for this recruiting class

What happened to the fact , he stated he would recruit like Bama ?? Then he signed
2-2stars today. Not a Bama like recruiting effort. !!!

This recruit class is nosediving. Multiple misses already. “Sure things” flipping to other schools on NSD.

HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffs—time that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.

Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitt’s ability to bring in talent.

Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.
Good grief what an interesting post. It's interesting because of the insight into an insane mind. Good luck with all that.

C'mon are you serious? Do you realize how many of those stars did not visit us until Jeremy came? They knew nothing about Tennessee until he came. He signed JJ man.

I am surprised we signed anyone after the recent coaching search. Guy was literally handed the **** end of the stick and he took it. More power to him.

Absolutely

It sucks short term to see Bama, and UGA (particularly) close strong and it makes the job in the fall even more difficult. But until Pruitt proves he can stand on his own its probably not gonna change. He just hasn't had a chance to show that yet.

Docvol,I'll apologize to coach Pruitt that he would have to possibly listen to a rant by a "flamestick"as you.You cannot play press coverage with 5'9" cornerbacks. He went for the best. You,however, are the type of load that if you won 7million dollars in the lotto, you would b..ch because it wasn't 8million.There is no way to say to you-"Get A Life"because you would only decline. Please, for all others here,go back into your hole.

This is the lowest ranked TN recruiting class since 2008, Dooley closed better in less than 3 weeks after the Kiffin debacle than Pruitt has done with over 2 months........
No. Not really. The core of that class were EE's who couldn't get out of their LOI. Notably Dooley signed Justin Hunter though.

Not sure why people think that UT has captured lightening in a bottle with Pruitt, he is an unknown quantity at this time as a head coach and to think he will turn UT around like how Smart did with Georgia is silly.....
It is also true that he is an unknown quantity so you don't know that he isn't lightning in a bottle that will turn UT around like Smart did. You are guilty of the same assuming your facts as those you condemn.

I have no earthly idea if he's a good coach or not. If he is... recruits next year will see it and flock to him. If he's not... then I HOPE UT fans learned with Jones and Dooley to recognize it early then cut bait before another 4-8 season.

He will need 3-5 years to be competitive in the East again
Sorry but no. He should get 3 years to prove he can coach. He doesn't have to win the East but he needs to prove he can coach and compete EVEN IF HE DOESN'T HAVE AS MUCH TALENT as the opposition. That's what great coaches do. UT needs a GREAT coach... nothing less.

and he will need much better recruiting classes...
Probably the best two players out of Jones' first class were Dobbs and Sutton. Both received 3* from at least one site. Neither as far as I remember were heavily recruited by the SEC... sound familiar? What Pruitt does with talent at this point is far more important than signing "stars" on NSD. Over time, he needs more of the elite players. But this is by no stretch a disaster.

so far a lot of fans arent sold on him after UT's lackluster class today...not gonna beat our rivals with 2 and 3 star players and a sprinkling of 4 stars.
There is a problem... and it isn't the one you pointed to. It is the implication that UT fans SHOULD BE sold on an HC BEFORE they prove themselves on the field. That was a MAJOR problem with Jones. Fans "bought in" almost from the start and wouldn't let themselves see the flaws that were apparent as early as the first season blowouts and Vandy loss.

Fans SHOULD NOT "buy in". They should make a coach PROVE he's the right guy.

Georgia has (8) 5 star players at this time and could end up with 10 (which would be the most ever by a team in a recruiting cycle) and (15) 4 stars. How is UT going to compete with that? There is no magic coaching that can transform UT's roster into a competitive team against the likes of Georgias and Alabamas talent......IF there is, please tell us because I would invest in that voodoo magic......
Dude. Give credit where credit is due. Smart did a great job. He proved he could coach and then sold that plus a very nice school to the best recruits in the country. How is UT going to compete with that? By working to emulate it.

A new coach should be willing to start work the day he’s hired. This class might be a reflection of what happens when your working two jobs. Just saying.

So are you implying we shouldn't have begged him to become our coach?:mf_surrender:

Ive said a million times that we have the worst fanbase in America and today solidified my opinion even more.

And we wonder why we couldnt find a coach.

And we wonder why 5* arent lined up to come here.

We get what we deserve.

Every time I think the threads couldn't possibly get any more idiotic someone comes along and proves me wrong.

As a Chicago Cub fan of over 20 years when they won the World Series in '16 it was refreshing to see a fanbase live and die and root for a team with all of their soul and not act like ignorant rednecks.

Im used to it around here.

The complaints about Pruitt's recruiting is insane.
Expecting a team that just went 4-8 and 0-8 in the SEC to out recruit the two teams that played for the NC is ridiculous!
Being upset because a GA kid chose to play for GA (Walker) or a FL kid chose to play for FL school (UF)(Copeland) or a CA kid chose to play for a CA school (USC)(Griffin) is stupid!
Especially when you consider that UT was barely, if at all, recruiting these players prior to December.
The quality TN kids that went elsewhere had already committed to other schools before Pruitt was even hired (Teague, Harris, etc.)
We may have had unrealistic expectations, but that is on as fans. I am disappointed, but not disillusioned.
The early signing period took a lot of good players off of the board, before our coaching staff was in place, which would have been the case, regardless of whether or not Pruitt was coaching AL or not.
