I think Kirby Smart is a better developer of talent than Richt, also he managed to convince Michel and Chubb to stay another year and that was probably his best recruiting job next to this year. I just dont see the complacency in Smart that Richt had.......hope I am wrong......at least TN has 5 star hearts....
This recruit class is nosediving. Multiple misses already. Sure things flipping to other schools on NSD.
HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffstime that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.
Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitts ability to bring in talent.
Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.
I still would like to know why you think this guy deserves the benefit of the doubt.
You can only put 11 players on the field at a time. Some of those 4 and 5* players are bound to be disenchanted with a backup role, and some are going to be unhappy with sitting on the bench because they thought they were bigger than the team. Individual talent is great, but in the end football is still a team sport.
I'm betting that regardless of the coach, not all those HS stars can make the transition from big fish in the small pond to swimming in the ocean with real sharks. I'd start with the ones who set appointment times for their big announcements as candidates for failure.
Because of the mess he walked into and the time he had to do anything. The early signing has completely changed recruiting and the delay in firing Butch hurt. Was he seriously supposed to overcome years of relationships in a month? Be realistic
Watch out!!! Here come the Sunshine Pumpers in full rationalization mode! They'll call you names, lash out and try and convince anyone that will listen that this class is juuuuuust fiiiiine.
The delay in firing Butch had zero bearing on this class. Regardless who we hired the earliest they could have started was after our last game.
I'm not claiming the complete dysfunction of the admin and AD had no effect but it's not as if Pruitt and his assistants didn't have prior relationships with the majority of these guys. It's something they should have better overcame.
This is literally going to be THE WORST class in over a decade.
Deathly thin on the O-Line, secondary, barely have enough RBs to start a game this year.
Miss after miss after miss today on NSD.
Yet everyone is ok with it and has nooooo problem that Pruitt wasnt giving 100% for Tennessee since day one.
Well, now we are seeing the results of that.
