Pruitt Should Apologize to Fans, the Team & Re-evaluate if He Still Wants to Be Coach

I think Kirby Smart is a better developer of talent than Richt, also he managed to convince Michel and Chubb to stay another year and that was probably his best recruiting job next to this year. I just dont see the complacency in Smart that Richt had.......hope I am wrong......at least TN has 5 star hearts....

You can only put 11 players on the field at a time. Some of those 4 and 5* players are bound to be disenchanted with a backup role, and some are going to be unhappy with sitting on the bench because they thought they were bigger than the team. Individual talent is great, but in the end football is still a team sport.

I'm betting that regardless of the coach, not all those HS stars can make the transition from big fish in the small pond to swimming in the ocean with real sharks. I'd start with the ones who set appointment times for their big announcements as candidates for failure.

OP is right ... CJP should've recruited during the dead period instead of coaching in the playoff. The NCAA would've never noticed.

I am sure thining about leaving this group. It sure has some of the most stupid post of any group I have ever seen. Why would you even think this before the man has even coached one game. "If you can't say something good then don't say anything at all".

Awesome first post!!

I would guess he means young but when your best offer is Valdosta St you jump at the chance. It was a short relationship

I still would like to know why you think this guy deserves the benefit of the doubt.

This recruit class is nosediving. Multiple misses already. “Sure things” flipping to other schools on NSD.

HUGE holes in the secondary and O-Line with little options to fill them. All while, Pruitt stayed at Alabama to coach in the playoffs—time that shouldve been spent working 100% on this recruit class and team.

Alabama benefits and at the same time sticks it to us twice: Pruitt helped them win another NC and it obviously negatively affected this years class and Pruitt’s ability to bring in talent.

Phil shares the blame in allowing him to coach an extra month at Alabama.

Because of the mess he walked into and the time he had to do anything. The early signing has completely changed recruiting and the delay in firing Butch hurt. Was he seriously supposed to overcome years of relationships in a month? Be realistic

Like I said, Smarts best recruiting job was to get Michel and Chubb and their star LB to stay one more year, that tells me he has the ability to keep players on his roster, plus he understands intimately how Bama keeps all those 4 and 5 star players on the roster and sells them on the big picture, something that he has brought to GA. I cant stand GA and it sucks that they are rolling now and TN is back to square one in another damn rebuild...

Same reason we give you the benefit of the doubt about being a real Vol fan.

Ahhh, I appreciate that. For my own information is the definition of being a real Vols fan accepting excuses for not meeting expectations? If so guess I'm not a real fan.

I haven't in anyway thrown in the towel, I'm just not going to listen to anymore bull**** excuses for not meeting expectations.

Exactly which expectations were not met? Not pipe dreams but realistic expectations

The delay in firing Butch had zero bearing on this class. Regardless who we hired the earliest they could have started was after our last game.

I'm not claiming the complete dysfunction of the admin and AD had no effect but it's not as if Pruitt and his assistants didn't have prior relationships with the majority of these guys. It's something they should have better overcame.

Watch out!!! Here come the Sunshine Pumpers in full rationalization mode! They'll call you names, lash out and try and convince anyone that will listen that this class is juuuuuust fiiiiine.

This class is just fine especially considering when CJP got the job we were ranked in the mid 50's in recruiting.

The fan meltdown at the outset of the coaching search certainly didn't help our recruiting effort this time around, that's for sure. I like Pruitt and think he will do a great job, but the snowflakes on here who melted down for the whole world (and top recruits) to see definitely contributed to the disappointing recruiting results today. In the meantime, Schiano turning down the Patriots to stay at Ohio State, where he is killing it with top recruits.

This is literally going to be THE WORST class in over a decade.

Deathly thin on the O-Line, secondary, barely have enough RBs to start a game this year.

Miss after miss after miss today on NSD.

Yet everyone is ok with it and has nooooo problem that Pruitt wasn’t giving 100% for Tennessee since day one.

Well, now we are seeing the results of that.

2nd dumbest post on this thread

I don't get paid 4 million a year. The margin of error decreases with every additional zero in your salary.
