Pruitt waiting until AFTER ESD to hire OC?

Absolutely. This search has been incompetence at its finest. If this secrecy and delay is over a crappy in staff promotion will cost us in the long run recruiting wise. However, if the delay is due to a good coach not wanting to be a distraction it will cost us in the short run but benefit us in the long run. We cannot afford another lackluster class

Your opinion. Sucks imo. 😏

PAST evidence of Fulmer as an AD? Had Pruitt hired in pretty much a week...interviewed twice before the decision. What “evidence” are you basing his INCOMPETENCE on?
History... I think some have put it as “the Tennessee way” that may be different now but proof is in the pudding and this pudding is starting to taste like ****

So you’re overreacting based on past VN narratives...shoulda led with that.
What else do we have to go on... inquiring minds would love to know...

The media, past history and present lack of communication is pointing to another botched hire.

Which one of the blowouts were we a break or eight wmaway from winning?
South Carolina was not a blowout, that game could have gone either way. We actually led most of it. But you and VolnBama miss the point. We finished about where most thought we would. How do you judge Pruitt on 1 year. If you are one of the ones wanting Pruitt gone after one season your crazy as well. Pruitt needs at least 2 more classes of his own players before we judge, and it's foolish to think otherwise no matter how it turns out. And put me down for the record that Pruitt gets the Big Orange turned around. GBO!!!!

Hope you are right and sorry for my ranting and raving, I’m honestly just tired, fed up and ready for this hire to prove we are not a total cluster ****! I was hoping after Kentucky that we had turned the corner but in recent fashion I was slammed to earth, lol
Anybody that's a legit fan is.

Fulmer and Pruitt may not fix it. If they dont, it will be screwed up a different way.

Prove how stupid it is. What's Pruitts plan? Lay it out for us, oh wise one. You know as much as any of us... nada.

However... the evidence is in favor of more dumbassery from this staff and AD.
The smart bunch does react before the pesky facts happen.

Oh well I guess we should be used to it.... nothing but disappointment and floundering potential for the last 10-15 years
Poring over all those articles, have you read of anybody breaking a bone because of disappointment? Will be ready when it changes.

I really can't imagine there is any advantage in waiting. I personally would want to know who my coach is going to be before committing.

Me too. Seems like easy ammo to use against us in recruiting. If I'm a highly touted blue chip recruit (being recruited on the offensive side of the ball) and I'm listening different power 5 schools and trying to decide between the likes of say Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Clemson, and Tennessee (with no OC in place)... I'm sorry boys and girls, but in that scenario I'm crossing Tennessee off my list to it narrow down.

That's kind of like taking a new job not knowing who your direct supervisor is going to be.

hog88 you're completely entitled to your own opinion on what a suitable recruiting class ranking needs to be, I'm not going to convince you otherwise. I don't care if we're the 115th class if we win 8+ games each season it don't mean a thing to me.

With that being said can anyone really give a reason the OC hire has to happen now (besides recruiting, I am aware of the benefits there). Without us going to a bowl game what's the earliest the staff can begin coaching for 2019 anyway? I know the Dead Period is the 17th to January 10th. Last season spring practiced started on March 20th, I can't seem to find when coaches are allowed to be meeting with players for the 2019 season. I know off-season workouts get fired up before NSD don't they?

All that to say the OC just needs to be hired before practice/coaching for 2019 can begin so why the hurry?

CJP has yet so show anything on the field that says he's capable of winning with a predominantly 3* team. We all know of his accolades as a DC with 4-5* defensive players, but that means next to nothing at this point.

If he can't find a way to coach up 3* players, he will not find success at UT, because he is never going to have a Sabat-at-Alabama roster here, with 4-5* players into the 3-deep.

Pruitt strikes me as a guy who goes about his business with a "no nonsense" approach. I doubt he pays much attention to social media "reports" and probably doesn't feel the need to address each of them (if he does what he's getting paid to do) as a form of appeasement. He has no connections to the incompetent era of previous administrations and, until he drops the ball, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope ESD brings us all an early Christmas present in terms of a top 10 class, because we need it badly. I'm not sure any OC is going to wave a magic wand and have everything fall into place for next year, but I hope it happens. I'm as anxious as everyone else on this, and I watched last weekend to see if the Browns or Lions were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs because I think at this point it's likely an NFL person. But that's just my thinking: I have no idea. GO VOLS!

He’s coached up a fair number of lower rated players. Levi Wallace wasn’t even a one star and that UGA safety. They all looked and played like his type of player tho. We didn’t have them.

The search and hire are being done for the players' benefit, not ours. More of us should remember that.

How does announcing an NFL guy now, hurt said NFL guy (or Tennessee)? If he's accepted the job his agent knows. The team he coaches for knows. NFL players aren't going to get their feelings hurt over it.

What is the downside?
Nobody has been hired. Thats why there hasn't be an announcement.
