Some blind hits are harder than other blind hits. Thus forcing the body to do what it was designed to do. When falling forward or knocked forward, hands open and seek the ground to brace the fall, elbows collapse to help absorb the shock. You can consciously overcome this reflex but if a hit is unexpected and hard enough, the conscious mind loses to the subconscious mind. Beyond that, and this coming from a Dobbs supporter, Ferguson had one bad day yesterday. That doesn't warrant shipping him to Siberia in a pair of Putin brand corduroy pants and a cotton mesh shirt.

yeah, but fergy knew the hit was coming and tried to run away, thus the hit wasn't one of those blindside bruisers that qb's sometimes take. he clearly knew, took off, got caught, tackled and fumbled. he didn't brace for the tackle, thus fumbling....period. bad play on the qb

Anybody remember a dual threat quarterback named Tee Martin by any chance? Anyone also remember a drop back passer who for four years could not win a national championship? Josh Dobbs is the only qb that meshes with Butch Jones offense! All the rest is window dressing and smoke blowing and punditry.

SIGH! OK. Fine. Let's get it over with. Fergie, you fink, you fumble-prone punk. Off to Siberia with you! Better yet get off the darn planet. You aren't a Terran anyway, you dayum Ferengi-Sliteen-Zygon hybrid freak. You son of a Dalek and daughter of a Goa'uld. And the nerve to dress as a Vol to boot. Off with his head! Nope, off with his hands cause that's what dropped the ball. Quick, give me a baby nuke, I'm having a Fergie barbecue, served extra crispy. What!? Neyland Stadium would be too damaged by the nuke? It's just collateral damage, they can build another one. The important thing is to de-Ferg UT, making sure sterilization is complete. By gum that oughta do it!

Man, oh man! Do you even realize that my posts for quite some time has marked me such a Dobbs supporter that some folks on VN wanted me to just shut up??? You just Fergized the most consummate Dobbs man on VN. The inventor of the damnable Dobb Goblin moniker and you call me a Ferguson is Jesus freak? That's absolutely hilarious.

and for the record, im for either dobbs or worley (if worley is willing to run the ball)

Worley had a really nice run yesterday. Even juked a guy on the sideline, stayed in bounds then scampered another 10-12 yards.

man, where's chattavol and the rest of the dobbs-doubters? tried to tell them. the rest who doubted just showed up with a bunch of excuses. shame, shame, shame

i tried to tell folk them media guys lie. they was just telling folk what they thought many wanted to hear because they knew folk weren't at practice and their ratings would go up. then came the spring game and some folk got exposed

Remind me of all the coordinated lies Butch is feeding these guys...

1. It was reported that Worley was throwing the ball really well and that he was #1 right now.... yesterday he threw the ball really well and was the first QB to go out with the 1s

2. It was reported that Riley was running with the 1s, making some mistakes /turnovers but that he can really throw it. Yesterday he played with the 1s, turned the ball over, but also made some really nice throws after a very poor start. Heard Andy Kelly say on the radio broadcast that "he made a couple throws on out routes that very few guys can make". Oops, my bad, Andy as a sideline reporter and former Vol QB is clearly a media member.... Butch got to him too

3. It was reported that Dobbs had been struggling with consistency and accuracy throughout the Spring and that he had been running primarily with the 2s ..... Dobbs played with the 2s yesterday although he certainly didn't struggle, he looked great which was great to see. But everybody I've heard comment on his performance yesterday - from reporters, from Bob and Tim calling the game, from Butch, from radio personalities like Doug Matthews - all said that Dobbs helped himself yesterday and "got back in the starting QB conversation".

4. The "media" also reported that Hurd is tall, that a walkon senior would start with the 1s at left tackle and that Josh Malone is really fast. It appeared yesterday that Hurd is indeed tall, that Blair did not start at LT and that Malone can indeed run.

I don't trust "the media" either. As a matter of fact I despise msnbc and cnn.... but I don't mistake them for VolQuest as you seem to do.

I thought Ferguson has the best arm. Looks more natural and let us not forget that that is his first live action. Dobbs got game experience last year. Fergie looked pretty good and he made good decisions at times. He was the only qb that checked down to a back (27 yard completion to Hurd). That drive lead to a touchdown by Hurd. I mean 7-12 is not a bad line. He made one poor throw with the pic.

peterman was the qb for hurds td drive. riley was all nerves and you all know it. dobbs was like this aint no bama defence so i aint got no worries. that is the difference. game exp. when riley could step into his throws they were on target.. on td and one to smith i think for a long one. our

All the whining, accusations and outright BS aside, I think we got 4 QBs that are easily interchangeable parts. This season we won't be losing just because we don't have a decent QB. Or one new to the system.

I know this is a weird question, but have to ask. If the "unseen QB" is always the hero, the next awesome QB.....then what do we do now?
(just joking around with the "FERGY is the man crowd):)

LOL, does he have awesome high school footage and willing to sit out a year or so while we make him immortal?:)

I think he does. If i recall right he has been on the team since at least the DD years so may be a senior now. I haven't looked at him except on the depth chart some time ago.

That's funny that you chose that word.

Even still he brought what he could at the time during the Bama game.

I was in that "unseen QB always the hero" camp last year until I saw Dobbs play. Was he a Manning out of the gate, of course not, but he showed potential and had refreshing skill. At this point I'm content with either Worley or Dobbs or maybe even both. We'll see how the coach(es) play it out.

It should be Worley's job and unless the others vastly improve we should hope for a good '15 commit like Gentry or Gibson for the years after. None of the other QB's look good right now. It doesn't matter how good Dobbs looked in a spring game because it comes down to REAL games. Last year he looked God awful except when he went against Bama's 2nd/3rd string defense, but hopefully he, Ferg, and Peterman get a lot better.

Disagree with this. Dobbs played very well in the Mizzou and Ky games, especially as a true freshman who had been on campus all of 4-5 months, with a very below average crop of WRs and no TE to throw to.

I think Dobbs, especially with more game experience and time in the program, has an excellent chance of being a very good SEC QB. Obviously, jury's still out on Riley, nobody knows what he is at this point other than a kid with a strong arm and potential. I'm bullish on '15 and '16 QB play with who we have. Definitely agree we need two strong QB recruits this year but I think it's far from a given that any freshman QB comes in and starts day 1 in 2015. JMHO.

Oh yeah, agree that its Worley's job to lose this year.
