My opinion is it's a choice.
Do they have a right in a free country to choose that lifestyle? Absolutely.
Is it important to me that its a choice? Not really.
You may have noticed I don't get mad or personal in these threads. It's an interesting discussion. That's about it.
I know from the past you don't. That's why I called you gay when you're not. I don't aggravate many in the politics forum. Most can't handle it.If no one cared if it were a choice or not, i think there would be very little controversy about it.
But, unfortunately, many folks believe that it is a choice AND therefore inappropriate/sinful/unnatural and should therefore be legally discriminated against.AS an example, the recent actions in NC.
I think speaking against such actions is important.
I don't get mad on this forum either. Sorry if it "sounds" like it.
Or go to hell, because while God might have made you gay, he will still not allow you to have gay sex.
I was f'ing with you.
seriously though. If I believe you (people other than me) have the freedom to live as you choose, why is born that way vs choice important?
So normally, a person's brain is hardwired to be attracted to the opposite sex, correct? Do you think out of the 6.8 billion people on Earth, maybe, POSSIBLY, not every single person's brain is hardwired the same?
Think about all of the mental abnormalities that exist. Not to label homosexuality as a derogatory term, but it is a deviant from the norm.
I believe god made man in his likeness and woman for his partner. So your asking me if i think God messed up on any of his 6.8billion creations?
My answer is no...
Not trying to argue, but what about the documented homosexuality found in multiple species of the animal kingdom - some of which mate for life with same-sex partners? I know animals do not possess the same intellect or consciousness of humans, but are part of God's creation nonetheless. My whole point in bringing this up is to highlight the fact that homosexual behavior exists in the natural world across multiple species. I agree that God would not make a mistake, so this must be expected behavior.
So.....all 6.8 billion humans are/were all born perfect?
Just to add perspective from the other side...the reason this question is so important is because we are striving for equality. Many homosexuals view this as a civil rights issue - sexual orientation to us is the same as race or gender; something in which we have no choice. If/when it is scientifically proven that no choice is involved, I truly believe that more folks will modify their feelings on the topic - certainly not all, but some.
I understand your comparison. But he never said he made any creature in his likeness but us. We are his prized possession. Not getting worked up just asking if you believe animals will join us in heaven? Or if you believe humans can be held to the same standards as beasts?
I have to admit that, although raised and lived a Christian for the majority of my life, at present my belief system is in a state of uncertainty. To answer your question, however, I would agree with you that humans would definitely be a much different standard. That is why having a belief system and dealing with what life has given you can be paradoxical. It was very, very difficult coming to terms with homosexuality - for me, understanding that homosexuality exists in the natural world (albeit with 'lesser' species), helped with my eventual acceptance.
