question about homosexuality

in your opinion are the gay people born that way or do they make a choice to be gay?

Is being thirsty a choice? Acting on the feeling and taking a drink certainly is a choice, but is the actual feeling of thirst a choice one makes?

That is a terrible comparison.

One must have water to live.
One can live and never have sex.

what Gramps is saying is that if you're born gay you should just choose to never have sex. That about right?

You are correct. We all choose to act on our lusts.

Or go to hell, because while God might have made you gay, he will still not allow you to have gay sex.

That is not fair TRUT. I have stated on this board several times that I do not think homosexual sex is any worse than any other sin.

God made me to love women but he does not allow me to have sex with every woman I find attractive and is willing.

That's right. All those seven-foot-tall basketball players, for instance, were destined to be five-foot-seven until they began a rigorous Tallness Training Program (tm). Same with horse jockeys. Most of them started out 6 feet plus and 220 pounds or more.

I'm talking about athletes training themselves to do things almost "involuntary", and with less effort than others have to use.

The issue under discussion is/was whether people can train themselves to be heterosexual. They can't. You either is or you ain't.

Athletes can train their muscle memory to do certain physical tasks faster/quicker, if that's what you're trying to say.

Sorry, I must have misread. :hi:

The is or ain't is debatable. There are plenty of examples of men who were gay and are now straight.
that's the whole point of this thread.
you are clearly happy being gay. I'm happy for you. I'm glad you're happy in your lifestyle.
My question is why is it important to convince others you were born that way?

I know that all of the gay people that I've known or been around in my life, they have been straight and then turn gay or bi, after having a bad relationship. Those are just the one's that I know beyond just meeting them once.

I think the last sentence could easily be...why is it so important to some to prove people weren't born that way? Just an offsetting question of sorts.

The number of people who say that they were once gay but now they are not is minute in comparison with all gays. Definitely not the norm by any stretch.

I am not gay. Not sure why you think that. Whenever I see gay guys kissing, I get a little queasy. I'm very happily married with children, just like you.

However, it is important that all citizens are treated equally. I don't have to like them/you/anybody, but I DO have to respect their/your/everybody's right to be who you are and NOT legally discriminate against them/you/anybody based on sexual preference (among other things).

And how many gays do you know?

I was f'ing with you.
seriously though. If I believe you (people other than me) have the freedom to live as you choose, why is born that way vs choice important?
