question about homosexuality

in your opinion are the gay people born that way or do they make a choice to be gay?

Why does it have to be an extreme?? Why can't I choose what to and what not to talk about with my kids, without being told I'm not progressive enough with my answers, at a certain age?? Some people tell their kids WAY TOO MUCH, and it backfires, and that's from experience.

Why can't you children choose what questions to ask? I am not suggesting that you bring up the topics; I am simply asking what is the harm of answering questions that your children have? I think the harm of not answering questions that children ask is that you remove the incentive of asking questions (they want the knowledge; they have observed something and are curious; the knowledge is a reward for them).

And leave it up to his friends at school to clue him in? No thanks. I would rather my children come to me for answers.

kids are in preK at age 5 and can only learn some of that stuff at school if some idiot dad is telling his 5 yr old explicit details

Kids rarely go to their parents for answers, when they get to a certain age. You know that, as well as everyone else on this board. By the time most of us are 6, are parents are dumb as a box of rocks.

They will not go to their parents if their parents do not provide the answers.

There is quite a gap between love (defined as both a feeling and an act) and sexual attraction (in impulse). Individuals can choose how to act; they cannot choose their impulses.

Impulse (n.): Sudden or involuntary inclination or tendency to act, without premeditation or reflection.

I'm not sure you can't program yourself over time.

Based just how you post on here, you are probably going to have the "Why" kid. Good luck with that man. :)

You can, just look at any athlete in sports as a perfect example.

That's right. All those seven-foot-tall basketball players, for instance, were destined to be five-foot-seven until they began a rigorous Tallness Training Program (tm). Same with horse jockeys. Most of them started out 6 feet plus and 220 pounds or more.

Who cares what year it is?? Are you going to get into a theological conversation about God as well than young?? They don't even need to know why is why and what is what, because they aren't going to be able to comprehend it. Also, you have to be VERY careful what Pandora's box you open with kids, because it can backfire if your not careful.

If you want to act like a child's exposure to homosexuality isn't 10 times what it was when we were kids then you're kidding yourself.

A few minutes ago my 5 year old asked me why some seashells float and some don't. I don't think she fully comprehended the answer I have her. So should I have just blown the question off?

I think its awful that some seashells choose to float. I'm sorry your child saw that.

If a man has the desire to have sex with another man, he does not have to act on that desire.

If I am attracted and desire a woman other than my wife I do not have to act on my desire. If I do it would be my choice along with the other woman.

No one has to act on anything they desire. A persons actions is a choice that person made.

To say a homsexual is born that way and has no choice is ridiculous. If they choose to engage in homosexuality that is their business, but they did make a choice. There is no law that I am aware of that says anyone has to have sex period. It is a choice.

Is being thirsty a choice? Acting on the feeling and taking a drink certainly is a choice, but is the actual feeling of thirst a choice one makes?

what Gramps is saying is that if you're born gay you should just choose to never have sex. That about right?

Can I choose, "neither"?
I'm not gay, so I can't speak very intelligently on this, but when it comes to sexual preference, I don't think I was born to prefer thin brunettes with a nice booty. I can point to several factors throughout my life that led me to this preference, though I never exactly consciously chose to prefer brown hair to blonde. I just do.

Were you ever attracted to both men and women ?
