question about homosexuality

in your opinion are the gay people born that way or do they make a choice to be gay?

Dumb post is incredibly dumb.

Are you a drunk, if you don't drink?? Are you a dope addict, if you don't smoke dope?? Are you a murderer, if you don't murder someone??

Call my post whatever you would like, but until someone acts upon things they think about or have urges for, it's just an unrealized idea or thought, period.

Strawman fallacy.

Refer to Trut's response.

So, you've went from calling my post dumb, to now trying to bring in someone else's message board opinion to help your cause against what I am saying. That's really weak.

Umm...no.

I am saying that Trut articulated my position perfectly. There is no need to waste the extra keystrokes to rehash what he said. Just being efficient.

Your opine to my post was a strawman fallacy; the epitome of a weak argument.

Did you use a thesaurus for this post to try and make yourself look smarter?? This is a message board, not a college English discussion. You're allowed to just be normal, versus trying to make everyone else look like less intelligent than you are.

Which words do you think I don't know? I type what goes through my brain. If you think "articulate" and "epitome" are SAT words I am sorry. I use both words in my everyday vocabulary. I received a minor in Philosophy so I am familiar with logical terms, hence "strawman fallacy".

If that's normal for you, that's good. No problem.

I don't think you make anyone look less intelligent, fwiw.

Weird how threads about homosexuality get the most traffic on this board.

I'm wondering how that relates to baseball.

So, how can someone be a homosexual, without acting on those impulses?? Also, you can't be a heterosexual without acting on the impulses as well. You are undecided, at least IMO, until you act upon those urges and feelings.

The same way one can be a heterosexual, without acting on those impulses...like people who abstain from sex before marriage.

Oh, fantastic. The most bigoted person on the board just showed up. ****ing fantastic.

I agree with those that say, it's both.

I think homosexuality is perfectly fine and...not to get off topic, believe that Christians take a few too things literal in the Bible and don't have any "perspective" on it.

Again, I love this argument (not being sarcastic). When did you decide "You know what, I'm going to like woman"? I've always liked woman. Just how I am. But when someone likes the same sex "Oh no, no, no, no, no...you made a choice!"

Sure, one can choose to act on those homosexual feelings...just like one can choose to act on those heterosexual feelings.

I don't think it's a choice. I also don't think it's an innate behavior that you're born with. I think it's just the way someone turns out due to external factors much the way a lot of other personal attributes both positive and negative are developed.

I guess I should clarify just a bit about the act part. Now, if your dating someone of the same sex, and not having sex, then you are a homosexual without having sex. If your doing neither, then it's just urges and feelings, and your not to that point. Hope that makes more sense.

I just think it's amazing that the Royals are still in Kansas City.

I almost wish that Glass would threaten to move the team; that might get enough of the money in Kansas City to come together to purchase the team and, further, put money into the team to try to make it a winner. Glass runs the Royals purely as a business.

I'm scared to watch my braves now. I'm proud of you for not turning on your team.
wait, we're Tn fans. We're use to it.

Can't turn on them.

.... and the choices they make directly contribute to those attribute, right??

No.

First, since the genome was mapped in 1998 (maybe 97) through the efforts of all involved in the Human Genome Project, research has almost consistently pointing against nurture and to nature, even for behavior.

Second, even if it is nurture that does not lead to the conclusion that any conscious decisions (choice) were involved.

If you want to argue that homosexuals are homosexual due to their environment, then feel free to argue that; just understand that does not, in any way, lead to the conclusion that sexual orientation is a choice.

The struggle for me is whether it's acceptable or not. It can not be a choice and still be deviant behavior.

No .... I didn't choose to become a fat smartass either. It just happened because of things I saw and experienced growing up.

Alright. Well here's a fair question, if that's who you became, based on what you saw and your experience, why can't you change who you are at some point??

I think it's just the path of least resistance and acceptance that people choose for themselves. Most of the time, that choice is what makes them happy at the time they are doing it as well. That's what I have noticed in my life at least.

Honestly though.... I've never really felt much of a need to care about it very much.

The choices we make, and others make around us, shape who we are and who we become. Would you disagree??
