question about homosexuality

in your opinion are the gay people born that way or do they make a choice to be gay?

There is a third option you need to add to the poll.

IMO, just like any other deviation (butt slapping, feet licking, BSDM stuff, butts3x, zoophilia, necrophilia, etc etc and so on) a person gets conditioned over time, incrementally, to need more and more of non-mainstream activity to get it up.

To me, gay is just another deviation. Something to get your rocks off.

So your third option should be

3. slowly conditioned over time to need more and more deviation in order to get it up.

So, do not have too much heterosexual sex else you will start down a path in which you might end up having homosexual sex?

Good...

I guy I played football with told me and 2 other guys in high-school he was gay. We and he told nobody (1986) he lived an open gay lifestyle in college. His best friend since middle school was a very popular girl in high-school. They stayed friends and eventually got married. He says he developed sexual attractions to her about the age of 24. He was never attached to women before then. Now he says his attractions are 50/50 women /men. He says his wife is his only partner (not sure I believe that as we have never not been friends and I remember the way he acted with his boyfriends.
this is why I feel its a choice. Some say you can't change the way you feel but I know someone who has. Just like if rid myself of anger issues.

TIFWIW

So what's the chance he was always bi-sexual?

also doesn't leave a whole lot of room for prepubescent kids who are feeling just a tad confused about what they're feeling

He's said in the past that he was never interested in women before his wife.

In my high school class there were two guys that everyone assumed were gay (not for each other). Both repeatedly proclaimed themselves to be straight.

Years later, both "came out of the closet" and both have been in separate long-term homosexual relationships. Were they always gay or did they "turn" gay? They both say that they were always gay but "didn't know it".

It is possible to be confused for a long time, so these guys say.

I don't see it as confused as much as continuing to develop or evolve.
I still say it's up to each person to find their way to happiness.

I agree with the bolded part. I just think that however they are happy, everyone else should either be happy for them, or STFU and leave them alone.

Some people can have a discussion for different points of view (you and I) others can't.

So you believe everyone is born straight?

I am not sure if serious.

If so, it is one of the strangest positions I have heard about homosexuality.

I believe everyone is responsible for themselves. I'm what is typically described as a born again believer in Christ. Unlike most I believe I'm to pray, read the bible, and apply what I've learned to my life. I believe everyone else should do the same. I believe all sin is equal. So while for me homosexuality is a sin, judgment on another for choosing that life would be equally sinful in the eyes of God.

To answer your question I believe people are born. At some point environmental factors combined with genetics produce feelings one way or the other. Sometimes feelings both ways occur. Those feeling evolve as we grow up.
What each person does with those feelings is between them and God.

I'm good with this. Very Søren Kierkegaard like.

I believe all sin is equal.

This theological interpretation baffles me.

Based on the above statement, I don't see how sin or wrongs can ever be truly equal but I agree generally to the not judging others part.

This truly baffles me. You believe it is a product of both. That I can live with. However, if it is at all genetic, how can it possibly be sinful? That would be like saying it is sinful to be short or to have blonde hair vs. black hair. I don't see how you can say that it is both genetic and sinful. Surely, one has to give.

You seem to have a recurring issue with reading comprehension.

Homosexuality is not special. It's just another deviation from the boring ol' norm. More extreme than foot-worshipping and less extreme than necrophilia. And yes, the more you indulge in it, the less you will be turned on by that aforementioned 'boring ol' norm'.

If you believe that "homosexuals were born that way", then you have to believe that all other deviations are present at birth.

Like to have your butt tickled? Born that way.
Like to spank your girlfriend and call her a dirty girl? Born that way.
Like to eat crap and be pee'd on? Born that way.

....which is, of course, ridiculous imo.

Hair color and other physical traits can't be changed. Personality traits can. As I stated earlier I was born in a family of alcoholics. I believe the tendency to be alcoholic is genetic because of the high number of them in my family. Some will argue that gay people can't change their feelings but I know 2 who have. And futher more my cousin Todd drank himself to death so I know alcoholics that can't change. In my mind being predisposed to a sin doesn't excuse you from it.

This is very important. I don't get to say what is or is not a sin for you. For me I feel homosexuality would be a sin. You would need to decide if it was for you.
In the same way I have no intrest in trying to convince anyone that drinking is bad for them or a sin. If they decide not to drink and need help I'm there for them.

Sin is doing what is wrong, as well as not doing what is right.

It is doing what is against God's will. If he says "Do not lie," and you lie, then you have sinned. If he says "Do not steal," and you steal, then you have sinned.
