I've seen posted by multiple people that we are in a better spot recruiting wise with Dooley than we were with Kiffin. Yet we shouldn't expect a top-10 class this year. Except if Kiffin was here, I would definitely expect a top-10 class and be disappointed if it didn't happen. So what should I expect for the 2011 class with Dooley?

No one who follows recruiting would post this.

no one knows where we will end up. the overly positive people are trying to say he is doing better than kiffin was at this time, and the overly negative people are saying he sucks and all he gets are three stars. only time will tell.

We are recruiting a more STUDENT-athlete then Kiffin did. High character guys. That is one thing I am excited about. There is no way to tell how he is doing compared to Kiffin this early. The only indicator is that CDD had waaaaaaaaaaaaay more lineman at his camp then kiffin did.

We will fill our class this year. It will just lack the number of "stars" that Kiffin would have brought in more than likely.

- We are in on pretty much the same amount of big time players as Kiffin was

- I do not think Dooley's staff are as good

- what separates CLKs staff right now is the way they could close. Like I said, I think they are at pretty much the same spot right now, but CLK and CEO can close like no others. Best in the biz. They would pull top 5 classes every year at UT if we weren't ever put on probation.

- Dooley closed VERY well last year, but he has to do that again to get a top 10.

- Dooley is recruiting high character and smart kids that will stay in the program till they graduate and that is HUGE.

On your last point LV. (And I agree with them all. Although I think we've got closers that are capable of matching LK/EO's closing abilities.) The reason that's so HUGE is because of our current depth chart, right?
Its important anywhere, and always, but its HUGE bc we are 15 or so guys down, no?

Just think about all the guys that have wasted away to attrition. That is what is killing UT, not recruiting. I don't care what kind of talent it is. You keep 70-75% of your players on the team for 4 years with solid coaching, you are going to be very tough.

I believe CDD was asked about the freshman one time about what he expects for them. CDD said his goal was for them to become sophomores. Getting guys to stay with your program and not transfer/dropout is crucial to rebuilding

I wouldn't say "best in the biz"! That would go to Urbie, Richt, Gran, Shannon, Fisher, Butch Davis among others who are better!!!

Thanks for the info. I will say this: Last year, I was very impressed with how he finished the class.

He was talking about how to close. The best in the recruiting business (in my opinion) is Nick Saban.

I recall hearing this. Love it, so true. He said iirc "The best thing about freshman is they become sophomores" LOL

Saban is the best recruiter. He just has a mystique about him that no one else has.

But Kiffin and Orgeron would dominate anyone on that list on a fair playing ground. Meyer and Shannon have recruits handed to them. Gran is solid in one corner, of one state. Butch is a top 5 or so recruiter. He is the real deal. Richt is God awful.

What CLK and CEO were gonna pull on NSD here was gonna be sick. We woulda had the #2 class, not a doubt in my mind. Then they pulled the #1 class at USC in 2 weeks.

He's good but Urbie, Trooper at Auburn and Charlie Garner at UGA is right there with him. I hope the former Louisiana Tech DB Coach-recruiting coordinator now with us, can do the same for the Vols! Chuckie Smith might be the surprise recruiting guru for us in the long-run.

Richt has CG to thank for his classes. He might have pulled Pollack and Greene on his own, but even Richtites will tell you CG deserves the praise come Feb.

Why do Vols fans refuse to believe that this staff + this university will get the job done recruiting. CLT+CDD= 3 #1 classes. Wtf?

Not sure I would have worded it that way, but... :)

Is this because of the talent here in South Florida or because their school win games? Can't be just because of talent otherwise, the Vols would quit losing the best Tennessee kids "recruits" to Bama, LSU and GA. every year.
