You rely too much on the rankings. Just because a player is not in the top ten in the country doesn't mean he doesn't have potential. I'm sure Cuonzo knows what he's doing.

Tennessee did its homework on Chievous, too, and that might explain why the Vols don’t seem to be too concerned with his pedestrian recruiting ranking — ESPN.com has him rated as the 109th shooting guard.

“I really only have two years of experience playing organized ball,’’ said Chievous, who said he didn’t play much on the varsity team as a sophomore. “As for the rankings, I haven’t been exposed to much or been out there, like at the LeBron James (AAU event).

“Everyone has to start over when they go to college, so that ranking stuff doesn’t matter.’’
