Quinton Chievous (Tennessee commit 5/5)

I thought this was funny. I have no idea about this guy; this is a definite "trust the staff". He has a great pedigree.

It seems like they're going after a bunch of projects and hoping they strike gold. Not that I'm against that given the current situation.

I know he is a project hense the good pickup, and not HOLY CRAP WHAT A BEAST!!! Perhaps I should have been more clear. Is he a guy that can contribute immediately, or just a total project. Glad I could give you a laugh though.

Getting this guy this late in the game would be huge! You should start a thread.
I put him on the recruiting board.
You can start one on here if you think it's news worthy.
It's a long shot but Detroit is one of Webster's hot spots and I'd say he knows the kid.

Look at our frontcourt... anyone over 6'8" could potentially be a significant pickup. Even if it is Kenny Hall minutes from last season. We desperately need fouls in there. I would rather go after a JUCO so even if he is recruited over next class, he is only wasting a scholly for one season.

Lol.

Anyone know if we have a shot with this guy? Doesn't it seem like it would be a significant pickup?

He chose Dayton because it was close to home, but I have read that he'd consider schools within 500-600 miles which puts Knoxville right in there.

Most of the big schools mentioning his name would have to red shirt him. I'd say he'd start here or get a lot of minutes.

Paper said he blew away the Mr Basketball in the play offs this year.
He's a banger. Tough. Just what we need.

Here's a quote from Gibson before he signed at Dayton.

"I already went to Michigan State this summer. I am going to try and get to Kentucky and Tennessee."

"I also might go to Dayton," said Gibson.

Chievous is a solid pick up. He put up good numbers for a team that played a tough schedule and good competition. He should be a solid citizen that will work hard for martin. Every team needs a guy that will bust ass hustling and play defense. He has a good jump shot and is the type of kid that should keep developing over time. Its really easy to get overlooked in the chicago area because there are just so many great players. Bottom line is Ut is getting a tough kid from a very tough league who should be able to contribute as a defender and role player right away, and possibly develop into a good scorer.

Sure makes me feel good we are recruiting well against powers like St. Louis and Dayton...... Next year we just might be able to pull a kid away from MTSU or Central Arkansas.

As long as one of these kids is a diamond in the rough and not all mirage's, we should be awful next season... If we win 18 games I'll say that is on par with Dooley's (relative) success last season.

Many of you don't know how the rating system works and how to manipulate it as a player, parent or coach. Many of you know nothing about the skill of a player, outside of the player's rating. And you haven't been able to grasp the fact that there are a ton of basketball players with the same skill sets that have from a 2 to a 4 star rank. It comes down to system and coaching, for 95% of the d1 teams.

Without looking, I would have taken Dayton or St Louis's PG, 3 and 5 on ut's team last year and the production would be equal to or greater than what we had.

Had Kwaiman Mitchell and Willie Reed not been kicked out of school by an overofficious administration, St. Louis would have been vastly superior to Tennessee at point guard and center in '10-'11.

As would numerous other mid-major teams.
