He is ranked like 106th at his position not in the country but at his position. Martin said he wouldn't recruit someone this year that he felt like would be recruited over in the future. If Martin isn't planning on recruiting any better players than this guy WE HAVE A HUGE PROBLEM.
Its not like Rivals rates people off youtube videos. They do have people that scout and watch players in person to base their ratings. 106 at his position is not very good in their eyes. His lack of AAU playing probably contributes to his rank as they are not going to rank a player with limited evaluation at or near the top of the class. 106 as a G is not as bad as 106 at C though as there are a ton of G's and limited C's.
Rodney Pryor - Chicago High School Blog - ESPN ChicagoChievous, a 6-5 forward, was the first to show up to Notre Dame. He had been living with his father Derrick Chievous, a former NBA player, in Missouri, and decided to move to the Chicago area to live with his mother.
Despite his father's background, Chievous had played minimal organized basketball his entire life before transferring to Notre Dame. Chievous' athletic ability was recognizable immediately when he stepped onto the court for the Dons, but he was raw.
...
Chievous' game has taken large strides in the past three seasons. He's put a lot of hours into bolstering his ability, and he's gone from simply being an athlete to becoming an all-state candidate. His jump shot has improved. He's become a better ball handler. He's extremely explosive off the dribble.
sour grapes^^^ - i'm 6'7 and got scholarship offers to mizzou, and kansas state, iowa state, and nebraska to name a few and matched up to quinton a few times when he was a sophomore during the summer. He did solid (i still got the best of him) - but i got the best of quality guys a lot worse than i did him.
