Rally to Restore Sanity

Not that the attendance means anything, but...

Jon Stewart Rally Attracts Estimated 215,000 - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

An estimated 215,000 people attended a rally organized by Comedy Central talk show hosts Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert Saturday in Washington, according to a crowd estimate commissioned by CBS News.

The company AirPhotosLive.com based the attendance at the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" on aerial pictures it took over the rally, which took place on the Mall in Washington. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 10 percent.

And here's AirPhotosLive.com trying to explain that they aren't biased.

Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" Rally Crowd Estimate Explained - Political Hotsheet - CBS News

I know at least 7 people (2 drove up from TN, the other 5 down from MA) who went to the rally, which shocked me. I am actually pretty sure I know more, but don't realize it yet. It seemed like every few days I talked to more people who were going.

Given millions of people live in the DC area, and the area is overwhelming democrat, I would be shocked if it wasn't a big turn out.

Stewart is still great on good nights, though I disagree with most of his political views. I don't understand how Colbert made it through season 2. The jig is up.

Someone please enlighten me as to why the size of EITHER rally makes a rat's azz difference ????

The vast majority of people going to either are the wing nuts on either side. No one goes to these rallies "to learn.". The size of the crowd, or the debate over how to measure it, is about the most asinine way to measure the merit of the message of either.
