Ramar Smith

For sure, but I doubt it. Who is gonna coach OU now?
Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone who would be a natural fit. Barry Hinson from Missouri State? I don't think it's that great a job. You can win, but you're always a distant second to football among your fan base. I certainly can't imagine a big time coach considering Norman a destination stop.

O, btw hatvol, have you heard about the BB schedule next year?
I know we get Texas in Knoxville and OK State in Nashville. Also, we're in the preseason NIT. I think there's still a return game owed to Xavier, but that contract may have been bought out. I'm not sure of the status on that.

From the Tennessean today:

Tennessee’s schedule is already loaded for next season. Four of the teams in this season’s Elite Eight will come to Thompson-Boling Arena — Florida, LSU, Memphis and Texas.

Also, the Vols will face Oklahoma State in Nashville, Xavier in Cincinnati and are slated to play in the Preseason NIT.

And Brent Hubbs said there is the possibility of playing Syracuse in the Jimmy V Classic but he isn't sure if that will hold up.

That would be perfect for me. That would create the possibilty of the Vols playing 3 games in the Garden.

Is the Jimmy V an exempted event? I know they're probably going to lift the 2 in 4 rule and allow teams to play in an exempt event every year, but I'm not sure the proposed new rule would let you play in two in one season. Since the Jimmy V is just one game, my guess is it isn't an exempt, it would just count as one of our allotted regular season games.

I'm not sure how the JVC is ruled. It might just be considered a regular season game but o well, it is better than most.

I agree. I'd much rather burn one of the 27 regular season games on a high profile neutral court game than a home tilt with Lipscomb or Wofford.

Yeah. We may take a loss but it will make us alot better than beating a low major team. Look at LSU this year, they played tough competition with a young team and it helped them alot as the year went on. We might look a whole lot like them next year.

Except that LSU has a Senior at point guard.

Scottie Reynolds is quoted in the Indianapolis paper as being "very disappointed." He's from Virginia, you never know. I would bet he knows Duke Crews pretty well.

Does anyone know what his verticle is? cause on scout it said one of his strengths was that he was a finisher.
Are you talking about Reynolds or Crews?

The skinny: Smith is an electrifying scorer at the guard position, and despite his size, doesn't fit anyone's description of a point guard. He's mature physically, can overpower a lot of players at his position, and is a fantastic penetrator and finisher once he's in the lane. He is not an elite shooter along the lines of a Chris Lofton, but he is an elite scorer.

He may not fit the bill as a pure point guard, but adding him would give the Vols another accomplished ball-handler, and a player who physically, is probably as prepared to come into college and compete at the guard position as anyone in the class.

Pearl and associate head coach Tony Jones were in Detroit last week, and as of right now, we expect Smith to be on campus the weekend of April 7 for an official visit. That's significant because to this point, the only official visit he's taken has been to Arkansas on Feb. 21.

As of right now, we'll term this one a two-team battle between the Vols and the Razorbacks, and though hard information on Smith is tough to come by, much of the buzz at the moment has Tennessee being in good position.

The 'X-factor' in the equation might be Illinois. Coach Bruce Weber and the Illini have been involved with Smith since back in the fall, but haven't seemed to be pursuing him with the same level of vigor that Tennessee and Arkansas have shown in the last couple of months. The general feeling is that Illinois remains a threat, and could affect things if they come after him hard in the next few weeks.

Cowell is not a very big scorer, acorind to one report I saw he only avergaed 9.8 in JUCO so that would be what like 4 or 5 in the SEC.

a little inside info from a direct source of pearl.... he apparently was in detroit a week or two ago doing some recruiting (smith of course) and things went "REALLY well". sounds like he is on his way here.

yeah Ramar Smith has got alot of work to do before he can bring his game up to the SEC level. He should go to the camps at Florida because that is where the best payers in the nation play....aka Jokiam Noah Jokiam Noah is a man and could dominate any and all players that have ever run the the unibersity of tennesee. He is a man.

did you watch the two florida games? I didnt see him dominate that, actually i saw him get dominated

LSU has a senior at point, but didn't at the start of the year. Tack Minor was their first option at the point. Who knows? Maybe Bradshaw will be that senior.

Bradshaw is a warrior, but I don't think we can win with him as the starting PG. We need speed.
