Randall Carroll

did you read the article? It clearly says he wasn't talking highly of anyone except UT. Now, maybe we were just fresh in his mind, but Biggins(the writer) seemed to read into his demeanor. Enough so that he had to single UT out in the article. I realize you don't want to get your hopes up and neither do I, but I'm chalking this up as good news and there's no one who can convince me otherwise. I just don't understand why people can't imagine a big time recruit being interested enough in UT to commit to play here. We've got a great thing going at this program.

From Greg Biggins

I talked with Cathedral (Los Angeles) wideout Randall Carroll on Saturday, who spent a lot of time in our suite with some of his coaches. One thing is very clear and that's Carroll is wide open in his choice of schools. To be honest, Carroll really didn't sound positive about any of the schools he talked about with the exception of Tennessee. He said he'll take January trips to Tennessee -- he spoke highly of Vols coach Lane Kiffin -- Arizona State and possibly Florida.

He said Georgia is not under consideration any more and was even iffy on Florida because of their change in offensive coordinators. He said he won't visit USC since he has been there before and when asked if he still considers himself committed there, he replied, "Nah, not really."

there's no such thing as enough wideouts, and if there was such a thing, austin rogers wouldn't count. so no, we do not have enough receivers

dont get me wrong, great if we get him, but dont we need a d -line.and quarterbacks

I'd put speed at the skill position right up there with QB play. Gerald Jones cannot carry this team. He needs some help. If Williams returns we will have some depth at DT.

As far as QB goes, one would suffice.

dont we have enough wide outs.but hey, keep em coming

Wide outs, yes we have some.

Playmakers? I dont see any yet. This kid is on such a different level than anything we have had in a long time. Meachem would be the closest to him in the past several years but watching Carroll I think he would be so much more.

i think we should look at the quarterback situation as a clean slate. Yes, none were sufficient last year but even CLK said that he could not evaluate them on their performance becuase it was a brand new system. It would be great to get a QB in this class, but i do not think it is extremely necessary

A quality QB will make any O Line better..... See Erik Ainge.

FYP, and yes, a good QB will make the running game better, but I really think that between Stephens and Coleman that Kiffin has enough to work something out.

People are being ridiculous with assuming that we don't have a viable QB already on the roster... Kiffin sure doesn't seem to be very stressed about finding one.

i think you're setting yourself up for disappoinment

didnt we have a good line this year..

No. When the OL neither pass blocks nor is dominate run blocking.... and WR's cannot get separation... the QB play looks even worse than it is.

If only one of those guys had flopped then I'd be glad to lay it at their feet. But when the running game is completely non-effective and receivers are always covered.... the problem is bigger than that.

It all starts with OL play.

I hope it was just coaching and the system... but if it is OL talent then the rebuilding will take awhile.

this kid tells people what they want to hear. the cal coaches think he's a virtual lock to cal. time will tell.

I dont expect us to sign him if thats what you mean. But he is far beyond anything we have seen here. And dont bring G Jones into this he looks like an OL when he runs.

Cut made Ainge look alot better than he was... and for his trouble Cut got condemned for his "dink and dunk" offense.

Wonder how much things might have been different if he'd been the OC this past year?

no, you saying that he'll be better than Meachem.
