I only sporadically buy jerky every now and then but this is the first time I've ever bought this stuff 3 times in a row. I'm a fan of Jack Links Tenderbites for their tenderness but this jerky is actually even more tender and the flavor is addicting.

Here is another gem that came out again for spring...

Bought 2 packs of these bad boys!

I hadn't heard this "fascination" but am aware of the differences between the salts.

Sea salt in comparison to table salt contains less sodium by volume, it still retains the original minerals(magnesium, potassium, calcium and other nutrients), and has less iodine. Some people notice a taste difference some don't. Pick the one your taste buds prefer.

I thought the benefits from sea salt was the minerals in it not the salt content ? i have seen where sea salt was so refined these days any benefits from it were gone ?

Nathan's is a big thing around here where I live.

In GA? I figured all the Nathan's hype was further north than anything.

my friends wife use to make some killer deer jerky, she hasn't made any in awhile, that i got some of any way :)

You really should try that flame grilled jerky, it's delicious.

Yes, the majority of jerky products on the shelf are not cheap at all. This one is $6.98.

I'm concerned with $8 hot dogs

Not your typical pack of hot dogs though.

It's literally 2 pounds of beef for $7.84. A regular pack of 8 Nathan's hot dogs which total 14 oz is $5, maybe slightly more even.

Cherry Cola Tic Tacs are really good!

Anyone tried the Dietz and Watson meats that are being sold? They offer them at Costco and Food City fresh sliced. It's not bad actually.

Dietz & Watson meats are very good. It's a premium product. You see it everywhere up north (Philly, etc).

Most people equate Philly with cheese steaks, but the true taste of Philly is the roast pork sandwich. DiNic's or John's Roast Pork.

Love me some lefse. Had some store bought (mail order actually) about a year ago. What Mom makes is far better, but it is very difficult to make.

Not a fan of lutefisk.

C'mon. You don't have to post denials, fearing for your VN rep. We know that you enter a Lutheran church only for the lutefisk suppers. It's OK. Maybe you're broke, and accompanying Aunt Liv gets two birds with one stone. Maybe, you're wanting to discourage a companion with whom you're unwillingly paired. It's all good. Besides, you can just push the lutefisk around on your plate and gobble up the taters. VNsters aren't gonna troll you for a little lutefisk supper.

So I tried a can of Skyline chili for the first time tonight. Just out of the can and onto the stove this stuff has an obvious aroma of allspice and nutmeg which is totally different from most other chili's. The smell is very similar to a Jamaican jerk seasoning. Not surprising this chili is probably one of the best flavor wise out of many prepackaged chili's that I've pulled off the shelf before with just a hint of heat. That being said my biggest complaint with this chili is that it is super watery, I don't get it. If this chili had more bulk and less water it would almost be perfect.

We love Skyline when we travel to Cincinnati. The canned is not as good as in restaurant and I think the canned has more water because it is intended to be warmed up on the stove and let simmer.

All that being said, all Cincinnati chili was originally intended to be eaten over spaghetti noodles with shredded sharp cheddar cheese, onions and kidney beans. The thinner consistency worked better with the noodles and the cheese thickened the chili.

I hadn't thought about the simmering.
I know the actual recipe isn't made public but I'd love to get a hold of a really close copycat recipe.
