Today per Tharinger:

The top 3 RB's for this cycle, Lache Seastrunk, Marcus Lattimore, and Michael Dyer all love Auburn and the Chizik staff. I'm told Dyer is the most likely to land at AU w/ Seastrunk a 50/50 possibility. Lattimore, on the other hand, should end up a Georgia/FSU battle w/ South Carolina, UNC, and Auburn having a slim chance.

Amazing how Chizik is doing it with such a modest public image and without having Auburn's logo plastered in the Alabama locker room.

That is about the worst predicting I've ever seen. Do us all a favor and never quote from theringer again.

I also find it hilarious that you think Chizik is doing anything at all to scare Saban when they have 3 committed 3 star players and an unranked kicker. Have you seen Bama's commitment list????

You usually bring something decent to the table, but this is just ridiculous. Go back and try again.

I know Lache Seastrunk said he loved AU but 50/50 for him going to Auburn is too high. You have Auburn vs Texas/LSU/USC/Oklahoma/Florida.... I'd take the latter half and I believe he ends up at one of those schools.

Seastrunk will end up at either Texas or LSU. Dyer will likely be in Arkansas unless UT can get in the picture over the summer. No matter what Lattimore says I still think he ends up at USCe.

OK. I apologize for the last sentence with the not so subtle dig at Kiffin. But quoting tharinger isn't a crime. If you think it's BS, take it with a grain. No one is perfect, but he's gets a fair amount right as well.

I wasn't even addressing the last line. You can say what you want. I was addressing the rest of your post and theringer is crap. They have been wrong way more than they have been right. It's total and complete crap.

Well, in April he called 3 commits for UF within a few weeks of their actually happening. You can check the archives and see that he pegged Watkins, Ajagbe and Christian as guys who commit in a narrow period of time.

The ability to get the timing right impressed me.

Was he the only one to call those commits? Somehow I doubt it.

OK, I'm up for enlightenment. Whose prognostications do you value, if any?

Sincerely,

19

The Rivals guys know what they are talking about 90% of the time. Not that they are 90% of the time correct, but generally speaking they miss much less frequently than any other outlet I have come across. And they tell it how it is. Tharinger has been notorious for poorly informed predictions.

Anyone know anything about these guys. I searched their names and didn't find threads on them. All big guys that need to add a little weight, sub 5 sec 40's. I know some don't put much stock in 40 times, but it is the first glimpse into quickness and explosiveness. I'm no guru, but are any 'thread worthy'? Thoughts....

All of those guys are good lookin prospects and guys who Kiffin likes for his system. But you realize none of them list us in their interests?

Yea, I realize that, but that doesn't seem to matter to the new staff. Seems like they have the ability to get recruits interested who otherwise wouldn't be. I'm pretty sure our staff would know about these guys (and many, many more).

I mean seriously, if I found them.....
well 'nuf said.

Here are some pretty good leftovers from UF football coach Urban Meyer's appearance at the Gator Gathering in Jacksonville on Wednesday night:

* Meyer drew a huge ovation from the crowd of about 350 with his closing remarks about the state of the program and his love (and commitment) to the University of Florida.

"Someone did a fine story and made a comment about our coaching staff," Meyer said. "I can tell you for the first time in our coaching careers, it feels like home. I love Florida. This is a hell of a place and this is a hell of a team. We're going to enjoy the moment and learn form the moment. Is this a good program? No, it's a great program. We have our foot squarely on peoples' necks, and we're not going to take it off. Right now, everyone is trying to catch the Gators. We will not let that happen.

"We stick together through all kinds of weather. Support your football team and the players under those helmets. They're as good young men as we've ever had at the University of Florida."

* Meyer said that despite all the depth at safety, and the emergence of Will Hill and the return of Dorian Munroe, Ahmad Black will remain the starter at strong safety.

"He's a starter," Meyer said. "No question."

* Meyer said the UF program is now similar to Southern Cal's in the fact there are so many highly rated athletes competing at every position. It is the result of consistently good recruiting.

"I've studied USC a little bit," Meyer said. "They had the cornerstone on developing depth and developing competition in practice, where if you have a bad day you're out and someone else goes in. It's life in the big city, and at good programs. Right now, we're a good program."

* Meyer said he expects true freshman wide receiver Andre Debose and true freshmen linebackers Jon Bostic and Jelani Jenkins to be major contributors this season. Bostic was an early enrollee who impressed the coaches backing up middle linebacker Brandon Spikes.

"(Debose) is a phenomenal player," Meyer said. "I have a strong, strong feeling that Jelani Jenkins will be in the rotation at linebacker. I like Bostic. I thought he'd be really good, but I didn't think he'd be challenging for a starting job. He's earned it. He had a hell of a spring."

Many are comparing the expectations for Debose to those of true freshman defensive tackle Omar Hunter a year ago. Much of those expectations are a result of glowing comments from Meyer. A year ago, he called Hunter the Tim Tebow of the 2008 recruiting class.

"It's one of my faults," Meyer said. "I like to hang it out there over their heads a little. I get excited. I get jacked. I think Omar Hunter is going to be a phenomenal player. But we all want yesterday instead of tomorrow."

* Although the Gators are in the running for a handful of top prospects in California this year, Meyer said the coaching staff is not targeting the state.

"No," he said. "(Tight ends coach) Brian White has a background out there. We're not recruiting California. We might try to cherry pick a couple."

I really don't like Meyer. You can here how cocky he is in all of those quotes.

And he contradicts himself - first he said they are not a good program, but a great one. Then when comparing them to USC he says UF is a good program.

I really want UT to beat Florida. More than any other game.

Besides Noel, Michigan has offered Pahokee defensive tackle Richard Ash, wide receivers De'Joshua Johnson and Chris Dunkley and linebacker Zachary Allen. The entire group could be making a visit to Ann Arbor in the next couple months.

"We have been talking among each other about coming up to Michigan," Noel said. "We are supposed to be headed up there this summer. Coach (Blaze Thompson) would be coming with us also. It will probably be for camp, but it all depends on how things go and when's the best time."

Sam Bradford, was a three star, 12th ranked pro style QB in class of 2006. Names infront of him; Tyler Lyon, Neil Caudle, Zach Frazer, and the best of them all; Chris Smelley.

How about the QB class of 2005....Colt McCoy was ranked 15th with 3-stars....names ahead of him....Jonathan Crompton (#2) & Joe Cox (#7).

3. Does any state have better-than-usual players?

Barton Simmons' answer:
The state of Tennessee has seen a steadily improving talent pool over the past few years and the 2010 class is continuing that upward trend, thanks in large part to the talent level in the Memphis area. With the emergence of players such as Keiwone Malone, O.C. Brown, Justin Maclin and Barry Brunetti, Memphis has become a hotbed for talent. Rivals100 prospects James Stone and Jacques Smith add to the list of players who would be near the top in any state in the country.
