@volfanbill
Did you go to Boone or Science Hill? I think I remember you said you lived near Oak Grove maybe???
I ask because I was out in Sulphur Springs earlier for something, and I looked over there to see if Onks had shut down for the season (that greenhouse before you get to Boone).
I liked the little place they had in Bowmantown better, I think.

I went to Boone and Boone’s Creek (K-8). Grandparents were near Oak Grove and I spent a lot of time there. Never realized Onks had a place in Bowmantown. I only knew the one in Gray. Spent two weeks back home just recently. 3 rounds at Graysburg, two at The Crossings and one at Crocketts Ridge. Bowmantown is still Bowmantown thankfully, but Harmony is growing like a weed

Yeah, the Onks in Bowmantown was down there on the left, not far from the main intersection coming from Sulphur Springs. It was a white farmhouse. That was the first one. It was off the beaten path, and the dude said that's why they closed it.
We got some impatiens down there in probably 2005?, and they grew waist-high under the front windows.
We took them a pic, and they put it on the wall down there. HA
They are good folks, I think.
I think maybe an old buddy of mine is the SRO at Boone's Creek elementary now from what I've heard. I haven't seen him since about 90.
Time flies.

Edit: If you went to Boone and are over 30, I am pretty certain you know my cousin I mentioned in another thread (the one who's had Covid 2x and is riddled with cancer and had to come back from Nashville and couldn't get his treatments there because he tested positive for Covid when they got down there). I say that because he taught there at Boone for a LONG time.

I know the place you are referencing in Bowmantown. Never realized it was an Onks.
dad used to get a lot of his veggie plants from Snyder’s in Boone’s Creek. If they aren’t technically family of his (and thus mine), they might as well be.

I don't know Snyder's. I always take mom and dad out to Crouch's on Pickens Bridge Road to get their stuff because that's where they like to go.

The Snyders and Sells owned a lot (almost all) the land out where Winged Deer Park and the Grandstaff mansion now are. All the way up to the motor mile dealerships at least. The brick house on top of the hill behind Winged Deer is my dad’s childhood home. I was steering dad’s truck (on his lap) through what was then a cow pasture, and now ball fields.

Just saw the edit. Do you know what class your cousin taught?

Stop tryin to start chit!!
LOL, guy was telling Hog he didn't know anything about football. Sounds like another D4H dufus.

I'm beginning to see why Behr is taking a break. The FF forum sucks, the PF forum sucks and the Endzone is running out of material.

He was a math teacher, there since the school opened, retired in probably 2005 or so, I'd say.
oh wait... Stern, strict, yet somehow caring, and lived on a street not far from the school bearing his name?

Edit: that should read as a street bearing his name not far from the school*
